My Little Stray gave birth the afternoon to 5 kittens, I think she is done. The first was born about 3 hours ago and I need some adivise. They all seem to be doing fine however, they all still have their embilical cords attached. Should I give her more time or should I do something??? Please let me know asap, I dont want to wait too long and jeapordaize the kittens health.

Hi and congrats on the new additions!!

Is it only the ambilical cords you are worried about?
I'm no expert but I know the ambilical cords stay on for about 4 weeks before they fall off.

I'm sure one of the mods will move your post to the proper forum where it will get more attention.

Here's an article that may help
http://www.thecatsite.com/Cats/Cat_H...in_Cats/3.html

The placenta is still attached to the kitten at this time. It will slowly come out following each birth. The mother will also chew off the umbilical cord at this time. If she forgets to do this to one or more of the kittens, DO NOT PULL THE CORD, tie off the cord with a length of dental floss and snip the cord about an inch long.

How are they doing? Did you snip the cords?

My Little MaMa Stray and her five kittens are all doing well. I called a friend from church that works at my Vet office and she gave me a step by step talk on how to cut the cords. It worked out great, as I was preparing to do the job, my sister came over so she helped me. It was a huge blessing because the little kittens were so wiggly. As MaMa cat ate I cleaned up the bedding. Everyone seems to be doing fine. Now I am praying that everyone remains healthy and I will find good homes for the little ones. What a huge blessing this site has been throughout this experience. Thank you everyone.
