My parents came for a visit this weekend and I got a big surprise!

Isn't it a great perch/gym for the cats? That's Emma up on top looking out of the window.

Here's Grace crawling through a tunnel.

Can you see Mac in this picture?

Here's just one more general picture. He did such an awesome job on it!

looks great, Amie! Nice to know your dad thinks a lot of his grandkitties.

Is your dad taking orders?

I told him that if he wanted to spend the hot summer in his air conditioned shop making cat furniture that I could probably find some buyers for him.

It was a little funny this weekend because he kept stepping on Grace. He never even saw Emma - she hid the whole time they were here. I don't think my parents approve of all the cats in the house. It's a good thing they live 600+ miles away (except that they took my son home with them for a few weeks of grandparent camp
).

That is fantastic!
And it definitely looks like the kits give it their approval! Your dad did a great job; that wood likes like it is a premium quality. I'm sure the kits will get MANY good years out of it

that is such a great design!! yes, I'll be he could make some money making & selling them! That was such a nice gift! By the way, how are the kitties taking to having their boy gone? Do they miss him as much as Mom does? My daughter is in Tenn. for a couple of months, and my crew is showing signs of missing her severely (my Joey seems to blame me for it - he's being rather aloof & fussing at the other cats) and JC, one of her cats, wants constant attention & company.

Thanks, Everyone! My Dad is retired but HAS to stay busy doing something. My Mom was worried about him spending time outside during the hot Louisiana summer. I found a book of cat tree designs at the library and sent him a few photocopied pages. He did the rest. I think it is his own design, though.

Mac is the one that suffers the most. My son was gone the first full week of June to a Christian sports camp in Kentucky. All last week he was at Boy Scout camp. Then he turned around and went home with my parents to Louisiana Grandparent Camp for two weeks. Then my folks will trade him off to my father-in-law in Mississippi for a week who will then take him to my mother-in-law for about a week. He's never been gone for a whole month before. To be honest, I'm not sure how the cats or I will do. He was looking forward to going, though, and is certain to have a blast.

When does your daughter come home? Don't you wish there was an easy way to send the cats for a quick visit?

That was soooo sweet of him!
I'll bet he enjoyed making it, too. He really could make some extra cash making more!

Nice cat tree. DH is good with wood, but hasn't made anything for the kits yet.

My older son (16) always goes to his dad's for most of the summer. It is an awful feeling to miss your kids, but at least he is having lots of fun!

Amie, please ask your Dad if he'd make me one for Angel?
It's gorgeous! I simply love it.
One request, I want my carpet in pink, please?
Tell me how much he wants to make it and I'll send him the money.
