Hi! I'm new and so glad I found this website.
I took in a cat 2 months ago that showed up in my friend's garage. No one claimed her and we decided to keep her.
The vet confirmed she was pregnant and according to the calendar and the day she showed up, she would now be atleast 67 days pg. I do not want her to lose the babies due to being overdue.

I know I need to let nature take its course, however I am worried about Lady Bug because she is really not showing any signs of impending labor.

I called my regular vet, but I got the impression they really did not share my concerns.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!

Also...when I asked about having Lady Bug spayed, the vet told me they are scheduling appts 2 months out. They are so backed up with surgeries. So I already scheduled her to be altered in 8 weeks, however I am now worried that it might be too far off.

Welcome to TCS....did you read this post regarding pregnancy and giving birth...it has lots of really good information:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46743

So the vet confirmed that she was pregnant and you can feel the babies moving around? Hopefully she will give birth soon. 8 weeks is actually a good amount of time because you want to spay her after she has given birth and the kittens are weaned. Just make sure she does not have an opportunity to get outside until she is spayed.

Welcome to TCS.

Thanks Katie.
I have previously read that article and that was part of my reason for concern.
Of course I am still hoping that she will start to show signs soon.
In the past, my dogs were much easier to communicate with and understand. They would come and get me to sit with them while delivering their puppies (golden retrievers).
I am giving her until Tuesday which is day 69. If no kitties by then, we are going to the vet.
Thank you!

Good idea...I volunteer at a rescue and we had a couple of "false pregnancy" cases where we and the vet swore a cat was pregnant but in the end she wasn't.

Thanks again. I will let you all know how things progress. She likes to sleep under my bed or in my closet, so I have set up nests for her. She seems to like them.

Hopefully when we get home from the pool today, she will start to show signs. I think she needs to be left alone for a while so she can get into her zone.

Poor Lady Bug is absolutely miserable. She does not want any attention, just to sit in the window and be left alone. She is snapping at us if we even look at her the wrong way.
I am hoping this is a sign that labor is coming. I know I was kind of cranky when pg and hot.
She is still eating, tho. Really no other signs except being moody.

Hey, I'm in exactly the same boat as you. I took in a stray, went straight to the vet with her, and he said she was definitely pregnant and would probably give birth in a week or two. It's now been a MONTH later and no labor. I really don't think this is a false pregnancy, I can feel them moving around in there like crazy. I can actually see them writhing around from a distance. A false pregnancy can't do that, can it? I'm thinking that maybe she has so many kittens in there that perhaps she looked further along than she actually was, so he thought she was due soon. Since then, though, she's gotten huge. She just waddles around, and can't even stand when eating or drinking (she lays down at the bowls).

I called the vet, and he said that she sounds ready to pop and otherwise said to call back if she seemed to be in distress or ill. That was a week ago. Like you, my cat is moody and just seems to want to lie around and eat and sleep. I'm afraid that because she might not feel at home here that she won't give birth, or will somehow delay it. She's been having really loose stools lately. Other than that, nothing has changed.

Is it possible for the cat to just not go into labor at all? Nothing in the pinned links tells me anything about labor just not happening at all.

I'm sure you'll have babies soon! Some cats get like that, I've heard. Ours was the opposite. She HAD to be near us and got very sweet and affectionate.

Cats can take anything from 60-67 days of the gestation period its not always on time..........Your vet has given you an aproximate date of conception he/she could be a week out, all kittens are different sizes and even with humans it is sometimes hard to put a date on them.
Good luck although it sounds like she hasn't got too long left.
