Im really freaked out right now. My gorgeous cat (2 years old) which i found as a kitten stuck in a fence, is no longer eating!! She doesnt seem interested in food OR water. The Vet has no clue as to what in kittens name is going on and she is getting weaker and weaker as the days go on. She hasnt been eating for about 4 days so far. We are about to go on a really short vacation for a wedding and im worried that when i get back i will end up with only one kitty and a ton of sorrow. Please help! She hasnt been throwing up so it cant be a hairball. All we know is she just WONT eat! We tried to force feed her out of desperation and all she did was just spit it out. Im really scared
! PLEASE HELP SOON!!

Time for another vet and a second opinion.
Ask for x-rays, sounds like she could have a bowel obstruction.

bowel obstruction is a possibility

Has there been any changes in the house? Have you changed your cats food in anyway? Is there anyone new around your home? Is there any other pets around? Is she an indoor or outdoor cat?

The vet said they had no idea? What kind of test did they do?

You are right, this is an emergency. You need a second vet opinion and you'll need to board your cat while you are gone, if you want this cat to be there when you get home. Sorry to be blunt, but your instincts are right about this, and it needs real attention. Please read this article hepatic lipidosis and while finding the cause of your cat's loss of appetite, know that this cat must somehow be fed or you'll end up with the additonal issue of hepatic lipidosis.

Please - I know you must be getting ready for your trip, but find a vet today and get this cat into their care for while you are gone.

We are leaving today in about an hour. There is no realistic way that i cannot go since im a bridesmaid in the wedding today. My cat is really important to my family but if she does have hepatic lipidosis then i dont know how we could keep her. There isnt a bowel obstruction because she has had that before and they knew to check for gas and blockage. We are going to keep her in a seperate room from my other cat as a saftey precaution (they tend to play rough). She doesnt hide to much anymore, and ive been petting her all day. She might be hiding under the bed now though.. we were trying to force feed her again. There isnt any animal hospital we can get her to right now. Maybe on the 27th but not today. Any advice on getting her to eat?

Find a knowledgeable cat friend to petsit her and/or get her to the vet for you. She will need handfeeding at the least if not assist feeding...baby food (without onion), plain chicken broth over her food, any stinky, strong smelling wet cat food that she will eat, sprinkle catnip over her food.

But leaving her until Monday with a bowl of food isn't going to do it..something is wrong, as you can feel, and she will need real encouragement after 4 days of not eating, to begin eating again.

Please...call in a favor with a friend who loves cats and has some experience with raising kittens perhaps (as they can be fussy to get transitioned over to eating, and one learns a few tricks).

Based on the constraints and time limitations you just posted...

I'd take out a can of her favorite wet food, open it up, nuke it in the microwave for a few seconds to give it some warmth and maximize its appetizing aroma. Maybe that will kickstart this cat's hunger.

But...obviously it would be much preferable to get a second vet's opinion.

I just forced about 1/8 of a teaspoon in her mouth of wet heated cat food. I really do think its hepatic lipidosis. I hope not tho... oh crap i think she just threw up. Well i couldnt find the throw up so who knows, maybe that stayed down. To tell you the truth i dont think i have very many cat friends who could do this for me. Either they all have cat doors (Mia is strictly an indoor cat) or they have another cat (Mia doesnt act that nice if they arent Pepper). The best thing would probably put her in a boarding place over night but we have never done that and i really dont want to stress her out even more. Before, when we go on vacations, we take our dog to a friends house, or leave all the animals there. Hire a teenager (colin, molly or weston) to come over and feed them. I could probably ask Molly (my best friend, also cat lover) to come over and check on her tonight... i dunno im worried. She isnt trained in this kinda stuff. God im so freaked out right now. The doctor also talked about like a urine thing. And we were supposed to check on how she pee's. But the prob with my kitties is you cant seperate them or keep track of them. They pee and cover it up. So i never know. I think she used the bathroom twice today already. Not for sure though.

Here is the reality. If you leave this cat alone and she is not eating, she will not eat. They get into a viscious cycle of anorexia once they stop eating, and they feel full because basically chemicals in their body are consuming them inside. She needs to be hospitilized, more than likely have a tube inserted into her to help them get food inside IF indeed she has FHL otherwise she will die. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Without professional intervention or constant care on your part she will die, again IF she really hasn't eaten anything in four days or longer. You can warm up her cat food, you can leave her a pile of dry, but she will not eat. Her system is telling her that she is already full. Please read the article I wrote and call your vet and ask him for the medication described in the article to see if that helps.

Contray to popular belief - or outmoded belief, milk is not really good for cats. If you get some water or pedialyte - you can get that at a pharmacy, used for children who need nutrients or to build up their system. Your cat really really needs to see a vet and be treated NOW! Or I am afraid she will die. Hissy is so right about this. Please ask your mom to help you with this - there is NO other option unless you want your little kitty to live!! Cats do not have the reserve we do as explained in the article(s) Hissy and others referred to.

They have already left unfortunately, so this won't be read until Monday.

This happened to my cat and she had liver failure. There is a cure, if it's not too advanced. Unfortunately my cat's was and we had to put her to sleep.

She is probably dehydrated... see if u can get to the vet for at least for a fluid shot.

Hey guys! I just got back at 11:30 today. We have been forcing Mia some water and milk mixture until we get some kitten formula (i feel so mean for only having cows milk). Today she drank some milk out of a saucer on her own and ate a little tuna. She hasnt touched dry food or wet (i think). My mom told me she just ate a little egg. No forcing at the moment. Tonight if she refuses food we will take her to the vet and make her drink some kitten formula. Thanks for the help, again!

Tj if you give your kitty egg do not give her the egg white, only the yolk okay? If you have plain yogurt see if she will eat that- it will be better for her than just the watered down milk.
