My Redford was just diagnosed with heart disease of an abnormal valve that makes his heart beat too much causing an enlarged heart. He is now on atenolol to slow his heart. Atenolol is a beta blocker I have to give him everyday. He hasn't shown any major side effects of lethargy or weakness and still seems to be running and playing. (Not quite as much but nothing major and that could just be my overactive worry imagination) He has only been on the medication about two weeks.

One of my questions is this:
I grow catmint (not catnip) in my herb garden and Redford loves it. I was just about to give him a treat of it today and then took it away because I didn't know if it would be good for him considering his heart and medication. Does anyone know if it would be okay or should I just discontinue to be on the safe side.

Also, I will ask his vet about the catmint but I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with heart disease. Such as anything in particular I should look out for or do. I did ask my vet questions and do some internet research but I just don't want to miss anything because I didn't use all my resources and I consider the wonderful people at The Cat Site to be a great resource.
