I can't pill my poor cat. They gave me really small pills and they are split in two, so every time I do it, the cat manages to chew on them and then foams at the mouth. I do really well with larger pills but those are really small. Is there a trick to it? Cause I hate to see my poor cat foaming at the mouth like that.

Where do you buy those?

You might also look into getting Pill Pockets (treats designed for a pill to be stuffed inside) or empty gelcaps (some pharmacies have them). I use gelcaps for my kitty who also takes half of a bitter pill. If it's urgent, you might try covering the pill in a small piece of bread, and then trying to get her to swallow it. That way, the pill doesn't touch her tongue and she's less likely to foam.

I cant help too much as I am on the other side of the world, but I would not be surprised if your vet would sell pill guns, or maybe your local pet store?

if not I am sure you can buy them online

good luck - how have you been going lately with giving your kitty pills?

The best method I found was using the empty pill capsules made of gel.

When I had to give my kitty pills I would tilt her head back and open her mouth up and stick the pill at the back of her mouth. Then quickly while holding her mouth shut put her head back to normal position and give her a tap on the nose (vet recommened trick), this usually makes them swallow the pill immediately but just incase I would then have a syringe with some water and squirt it in the corner of her mouth while still holding the mouth shut. worked like a charm everytime and took about 10-15 seconds for the whole process and didn't bother my cat whatsoever. Important to syringe some water in to help them swallow and get it down and keep them from spitting it out or tasting the pill.

The syringe full of water is a good idea even if the cat swallows the pill. It helps get the pill down the hatch all the way so it doesn't get stuck in the esophagous. Instead of water, I often feed my cats after pilling them, which accomplishes the same goal of getting the medication to the stomach.

For me, the pill gun didn't work with these small half-pills that dissolve so easily. The "holder" part is too small to hold that small a pill firmly, nd it easily crumbles and drops out of the gun before one gets it all the way in. Then the cat gets it on the tongue and can easily spit it out.

Yea, those are hard to give to a cat. I had no problems giving him lareger pills, but small little one broken in half are very difficult to do.
I like the idea of covering the pill up in something. I am going to try cheese.
