Hi I was wondering if anyone had some advice. I am going away for the long 4th of July weekend. I have a healthy and happy 16 year old kitty who has to take a thryoid medication twice a day. I am not sure if it would be best to bring her with me and stress her for both two hour drives or whether I should leave her alone here and purchase an automatic feeder and crush her pill in her food for four compartments and risk that it will open and she will eat all of the food inside. Either way she will be stressed... Any thoughts? Thanks all.

I would see if one of the vet tech's at your vet's office does pet sitting and hire them to come in twice a day. Or find a bonded, with good references professional pet sitter to come in. Staying home, but getting her meds for sure, is the best case scenario

If you can't find a professional petsitter, do you have a friend, relative, or fellow cat lover who might be willing to come by and give her the medication? Maybe you could have a trade for petsitting with someone you trust? Also, Petsitters International (http://www.petsit.com/) is supposed to be a good source to find professional pet sitters in your area.
