Have you noticed your cats mimicking each other?
Cosette and Eppie spend a lot of time together (mostly napping on opposite ends of the couch or chasing/tackling one another). I've also noticed, though, that little Cosette really seems to mimick Eponine. Whenever Eponine's bathing herself, Cosette will start bathing herself. When Eponine goes and eats food, Cosette usually follows her and eats right after her.
Is it common for cats to mimick one another, or is this all coincidence?

I have three and I've never noticed it with mine. If your cats are doing it repeatedly, I doubt it's coincidence. Maybe they're bonded especially close. Are they sisters or mother/daughter? I don't know...haven't heard of this in cats before, so I'm curious what others have to say.

They're not sisters, nor are they mother and daughter. I had Eponine for 3 years before adding Cosette to the house. Eponine has NEVER gotten along with another cat, which makes me think that they do have a special bond.
Does anyone else see their cats mimicking each other?

Max and Chucky are like that.. They do the same things most of the time. I think it can get on Chucky's nerves at times because no matter what he does or where he goes he has max with him.. he even sleeps with Chucky LOL or on chucky..

Because Chucky is the oldest in the house, the king of the castle he is aggressive when it comes to Buddy and a bit Jealous too. So he will nip at Buddy or chase him, Max is now doing this too. So I say Maxy see what Chucky doo

I just wondered the same this week. Megan I think (if it's possible) has taken up some bad manners from George . She is also putting her favorite toy in the same location that he puts his - very strange. All I could think was YIKES! I don't need another George in the house.

Snowball had a kitty companion named Midnight (at the Rainbow Bridge now), for 10 years. The two of them used to mimick each other quite frequently and it was sooooo funny and cute!!!

Where my cats are
My cats don't really mimick each other. They are sisters and do a lot of the same things, like nap in the sink or fight over a toy, eat when the other eats.

But with Pumpkin, my mother's cat, he mimicks the dogs! He will sit next to the cabinet where his treats are and raise one paw for a shake! Sometimes he will sit up on his hind leggs like the dogs do too. Occasionally when we are playing fetch with the dogs he tries to get in on it too...although the dogs tend to not care what they run into/over durring a good game of fetch so he has learned to stay out of the way.

MoochNNoodles, Pumpkin sounds hilarious!

I guess maybe it's just coincidence that Cosette seemingly mimicks Eponine, but it was a nice thought to think that she was trying to be like big sis

Yes - they do mimick each other, or at least learn from each other.

The most extreme example of this that happened in my house many years ago. We found Bob Marley about 6 years ago tucked out back of our property when he was perhaps 6 weeks old. We brought him inside and I had him on my lap in the living room when one of the cats walked up to the closet door in that room, put his paw under the door and pulled it open. Bob watched the entire thing in fascination. About 2 hours later, Bob hops down, walks over to that door and sticks his paw under the door and tried to open it (he failed because the door was solid wood, heavy, and he was just too small). But wow! One brief view and 2 hours later, this tiny kitten attempted to do what he saw - we didn't think they retained anything that long at that age. Bob has always been one of the smartest cats in the house.

Persil definitely copies things that Ellie does, not always a good idea as Ellie can be a bit stupid sometimes! Ellie climbed up on my bookshelves once, then Persil did the sam and looked so pleased with herself, but though Ellie could get down, Persil couldn't!

Buffy copies Willow, but Willow never copies Buffy. If Willow sees something on the floor, Buffy will see it too and will be at it before Willow can take a step. If Willow goes to a window to look outside, Buffy will come up with her. If Willow chatters at a bird, Buffy will look to see where the bird is and will then chatter herself. I can't think of any specific time Buffy has mimicked any of Willow's actions, but I know for a fact that at least once I've laughed because Buffy was acting exactly like Willow (wait, I remember once when Willow licked her paw once, Buffy licked her own paw once. Then Willow looked to the left, Buffy looked to the left. Willow licked her back, Buffy licked her back. Willow shifted to the side, Buffy shifted to the side. Willow lies down, Buffy lies down. Willow stays still for a while, Buffy gets fed up and does the batman-jump on Willow to get her to play [lol])
