As a dressmaker, I second that. Also, order far enough ahead of time, to allow for alterations. Off-the-rack wedding gowns always need a little "nip and tuck". You'll also want to find the right undergarments, to go with it. See if they'll throw in a petticoat, too.

It's probably just as well we got married at the courthouse (I wore cowboy boots and a motorcycle jacket LOL) as I'm so fond of "sparklies" that probably any gown I picked out or made would've looked like a chandelier!
