Anyone know of a good, safe flea med for kittens? My 8-week-olds have a fairly bad case of the bloodsucking parasites, and no amount of flea-combing seems to cut down their numbers, and I hate to bathe them, as the water almost immediately turns red and they squeak terribly (and in obvious pain). I feel sorry for the tiny creatures, and would like to help rid them of the fleas before the fleas rid me of them.

At 8 weeks old the vet should be able to give them something, but I would not uise any OTC product on them, especially if they have a bad infestation they should be examined for anaemia.

And like Jennyranson said, please do not use over the counter flea treatments--they don't work and the chemicals in them are not safe.

If you use Frontline and Capstar together you are bound to get rid of the fleas completely. Capstar is a pill that causes the fleas to start dropping dead in 30 minutes. Lots of vets will prescribe flea medication without charging for an office visit.

Note: We are talking about Bayer's Advantage, not Hartz (who should be sued by Bayer for using that name and misleading people)
