My cat bobbie has started acting a bit odd...
she will groom herself ... and then suddenly bolt off across the room and then start grooming the same spot again and then sometimes do another bolt.

Do we have fleas?

we've never had fleas before... we have 3 cats and they are all indoors... lately we have moved from an apartment to a house so they now have access to the first floor balcony. Could she have picked up fleas from hanging around outside?

We've combed her through and not found anything...
we were thinking it may be possible that sh has one or two fleas...
and after searching the web there don't seem to be any sites describing behavioural symptoms for cats that have fleas....

Anyway we are going to flea bath her tomorrow... Just to be sure.

her diet hasn't changed. she eats felidae and at night they get boiled rice, chicken and baby carrots. and we are going to buy the flea wash today but most probably from the vet.

I am not a flea expert

but you WILL know if you have fleas.
I catsat my sister's cats for 3 months once and they had them.
I didn't notice them grooming even excessively but I DID notice the morning I woke up with little red welts all over my legs.
You tend to get them on your calves as that is as high as a flea jumps and about the same distance as a cat is off the ground.

Hope you get some answers at the vets!

They are a pain to live with.. And make sure that you wash ALL the bedding, vacuum the carpets thoroughly, pet beds washed, everything or they will come back, the little suckers.

I am the expert on fleas!!! And I've only personally had one cat (besides this one) in my life. The fleas from my boyfriends house once got on me, STAYED on me driving all the way home and infested my room at my parent's house!!They were soo mad! (not the fleas, my parents ha ha). My roommates cat got fleas once, and then she moved out and LEFT THEM for me to take care of. I had them a few more times after that.....

Anyways, for fleas I suggest you do the "flea check" as i like to call it.

What I do is I lay out both my arms in the area where fleas would like to live (ie, couch, bed, carpet) and then wait for a couple of minutes. If there are fleas in your house, pretty much garuntee they will jump on your arms.

And like Loveysmummy said above me, you will notice little red bumps on your feet/calves.

But do my patented "flea check" if you're worried.

I just saw my new cat biting herself in two different areas within about 2 days, so of course i'm scared she has fleas, but i don't think she does.

But aren't these scenarios like when you have a full blow flea infestation?
What if this is just like the first 2 or 3 fleas?
