Hello Everyone, I am new to this site and I stummbled upon it while I was looking for information to help a VERY pregnant stray that has been living in garage for the past two months. For the past week her belly has been so big I thought she would of burst by now, when she lays down I can see the little kittys moving around in her tummy. If I place my hand on her belly, I can feel them move. She has been living in my garage for the past two months, I have not brought her into the house because I have two other cats and a dog also my husband is not a animal lover and does not want another pet. I feed her every day and she is very comfortable. I am in need of ANY advise on cat pregnancy, I have never experienced this before. If anyone could please awnser two ?'s #1 Is it normal that these kittens movements are so visible, if so how long should this stag last? #2 Should I bring her and the kittens in the house after she gives birth? Thanks in advance for any reply's. Little Stray

Welcome to TCS....glad you are caring for this stray. Here is really good information on cat pregnancy and delivery:

http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=46743

As far as bringing her into your home once she has her kittens....I wouldn't recommend it until you have her and her kittens checked by a vet. Until that time, I would recommend that you take precautions to not spread anything to your cats....when I was fostering a mom and her kittens, a vet recommended having a separate change of clothes and washing my hands thoroughly so that I wouldn't transmit anything to my cats. I do the same thing when I volunteer at the feral cat clinic...since I don't know the history of the cats....I change and wash my clothes and take a shower before I greet my cats after the clinic.

BTW...if you need a list of low cost clinics in order to have this cat fixed when she weans her kittens...just let me know.

Hello Everyone, Thanks for such a warm welcome to the site. I think my little stray is preparing for the birth of her kittens. Since yesterday she has not wanted to leave my side, which is difficult because she is staying in the garage. This morning I noticed some (what appeared to be dried up milk of her nipples?) She began growling then she disapeared into one of three hidden spaces that I have prepared. If this is really it, I am praying that she does not deliver until I return from Church this morning. I had been praying that she would deliver before now, my 16 yr old daughter left yesterday for a 6 day Missions trip to NYC, I really wanted her to share in this blessed event with me. However, like with everything else in life, God is in control and He knows what is best. I will keep everyone posted on my Little Stray's progress.

One thing to consider for the future...if this stray does have her kittens before your daughter's return and you want her to share in the birth of kittens....call your local shelter or rescue group and offer to foster a pregnant cat. During this time of year, shelters and rescues desperately need fosters to care for pregnant moms through the birth and weaning of their kittens. The great thing is...the rescue/shelter will be responsible for placing the kittens and mom cat at the right time. I fostered a mom and her kittens for my rescue group that otherwise would have been put down due to the shelter being full.
