Yesterday, my cat had his leg amputated. It's fur has been shaved off around the leg area from the operation. Does anyone know how long it will take to get his fur back and will his stitches need to be taken out?

Fur will start regrowing before the scabbing even starts to fall away.
As for the stitches, your vet should have answered that before you brought your cat back home, a quick call should be able to answer that one.
Really depends on the stitch type they used, I doubt they'd use disolving on an amputation.

My little kitten had an eye removed 2 weeks ago, her stitches had to be removed, but she healed so well that they were taken out a week early, and she already has a good covering of peach fuzz there now.

He is fine. His stitches can come out in a week and he can wander around the house. He is coping really well and has got his balance well!

Thank you for your kind wishes. He was involved in car accident which detached the leg from the pelvis!

Unfortunately, Mikey has now passed away.

It was a very unexpected occurance but he has been through such a lot recently and it is nice to think that he is now resting.

The vets are looking into his death.

I am so sorry, after all you did to try and save him. Maybe he had some other internal injury that didn't show up immediately? It is always such a shock when things don't go as expected. Please accept my condolences.

I sorry to read about his accident and his passing. I had a cat last yr who had a leg amputated but passed away a couple of months later due to FELv and really bad case of worms. I think while the amputation goes well the stress on the body caused other problems.
