There is a little tiny stray cat that lives in our neighborhood that we see every now and then and she eats out of our outside cats bowls outside sometimes. We never could get close to her but this morning she brought 2 baby kittens and put them on our front porch. I dont know what to do! She is very protective and she hisses and growls at me and I have no clue what to do with her and the kittens. I cant bring her inside, I have other cats and nowhere to enclose her with the kittens and you cant touch the mom. What should I do, the kittens look like they are about 3 weeks or so. Their eyes are open and they walk around a little. They are adorable! I do plan on taking the mom cat in and having her spayed and releasing her back, cause you cant touch her. Our front porch is kind of inset and I'm afraid if someone comes to the front door she may attack them. I blocked it off with some big ferns and plants in pots that I had and put a note to use the other door. Just not sure what to do, I've never had baby kittens before! It sure was a shock to open the door and find them.

I'd probably put out a plastic or cardboard box with an old towel or blanket for her and the babies and leave her there. I'm sure there are folks here with much better advice.

She brought them to you for a reason. She either needs food- you should feed her kitten chow, moisten it with KMR as well, let it sit for just a few minutes before putting it out- put it on a cookie sheet or a plate, spread out. If she is as tiny as you say you could be underestimating her kitten's ages and she brought them to be fed.

Is there anyway you can get her and the kittens inside? A shed, a garage, anything? They are at great risk being outdoors. Also be sure you provide clean water for her, not a lot- but keep it replinished, you don't want a kitten falling in a large bowl of water and drowning, again depending on the age, they may just drink the water like mom does. A cardboard box, a inexpensive dog house would be good for her to keep these little ones out of the elements. But your bathroom would be even better if you could successfully coax her and the little ones into a cat carrier and get them inside.

I have been watching these little guys all day, they seem pretty healthy looking and happy. Mom hasn't left them at all. She only went a few feet away from them all day. I went and bought a big bin and put out there and some carpet squares for the bottom. She put them in one of those 1 story condos thats carpeted and round that we had out for Peanut, another stray that came up months ago and we had neutered and all. She just moved right in. I did block off the porch and put a note up for people to go to the other door on the front of the house, thank goodness no one has come to the door today. I am just worried about Mom kitty attacking someone that comes up to the door, but I think I've got that covered with blocking the entrance.
The kittens are playing with each other, seems like they are just wrestling around with each other. Looks like she is feeding them about every 2 hours or so, thats about how often she gets inside the condo with them. I put the bin on its side and put the condo in there. The mom kitty has made herself at home there, she seems pretty relaxed. I bought some kitten food for Mom and am getting some KMR tonite. They are soo cute!

OH MY GOSH! They are precious! You are doing a fantastic job!!! Bless you heart for taking care of them. Hissy is right, she brought them to you for a reason. She trusts you and trusts that you will take care of her and her babies...and she was right!!!

You are doing a wonderful thing by getting her spayed when the time is right, and also by getting Peanut neutered!!!

You are awesome! I can't wait to hear more about them and to see more pics!!!

The world needs more people like you!!!

They are lovely, and the momcat looks quite young. It is good she will be spayed to prevent this happening again.

Same thing happened to me last month. Momma feral brought her four kittens to me one by one. It was like she was saying, "Please take care of my babies. I can't do it anymore." I took the kittens inside and put them in the tub with food, water, and a towel on one end and a litter box at the other. Two of them started eating right away and were doing quite well. The other two didn't seem to know how to eat at all. They were about four weeks old. I put the two that wouldn't eat in a box and set the box on my porch. Momma would come and jump in the box and feed them and when she got tired she'd get out and I'd put the kittens back into the tub with the other two. Needless to say, I eventually found good homes for all four, and Momma got spayed last week. Good luck with your new "family".

An update on Mom cat and kittens: Mom cat is now called Missy, she went in yesterday to the vet and was spayed, tested and vaccinated. She is very sweet, still doesnt want to be touched but coming around. My husband was out weeding the flower beds on Sunday and everytime he would move she would move with him. She acts like she wants to be petted but still not quite sure yet. She will be moving in September with Peanut to our new house in Alabama. We have 4 acres there and a big detached 2 car garage for them to live in. They will have lots of room.
The kittens are doing great, we brought them inside and they have been living in my daughters room. They go in on Thursday for their first shots and deworming. We have named them Scout and Baxter. They are very loving little guys. I will post some pictures of them later today. They are doing great and are so much fun.
