Hi!
I just bought my first kitten a few days ago, currently he's eating Wellness dry food and Fancy Feast wet food. I was wondering if any pros can tell me what the best food for a young (2 month old) kitten is?

Hi KaTwOmAn, and welcome to TCS!

I've moved your question to our Health and Nutrition forum, where you should get some good advice on your question.

Well, I don't know about any pros or cons, but was wondering if you are using the kitten varieties? It should be the kitten formulas because they have the right nutrients for growing kitties.

I like premium dge ( my adulenct is getting some with her adult food) ... I found it reasonable but it could be hard to find... Nutro makes good kitten .... Those are really the only two I really like for a kitten

I'd recommend Nutro Natural Choice Complete Care kitten, second choice - Royal Canin BabyCat (for 1-4 months) then Royal Canin Kitten 34...the babycat has a bit more grains, but is a decent food.

Oh, my kitten REALLY enjoys having his dry and wet food mixed for his daily meals. I really recommend it for cats in general. He's my first indoor kitten but I have 3 outdoor kittens that I've had for 3 years now and they all love to have their wet and dry food mixed as well.

Do be careful...dry food that is moistened or mixed with wet can spoil really fast...it needs to be pulled up and discarded within an hour...spoiling is especially a problem when in the Summer months.

Ha. I wish I had this problem.

My guys scarf up their meals within minutes and then lick theirs and each others bowls clean...

thus, I could never free feed I don't think

Our four cats (and our vet) are happy with the Nutro products. We feed moist packets on a schedule and free feed the dry. As stated above, stick with kitten food while they're kittens, at least until they're six months old or more, after that you could start introducing more adult cat foods until switching completely. We were adopted by our third and fourth cats when they were approximately 7 months old, which could have been a problem if they shared meals with a couple of 4 year olds, but our vets said we could just feed all of them adult food at that point.
