Did anyone watch this outrageous show last night? We turned it on just curious at the premise. I found it to be pretty ludicrous and I am sure some rich folk are making fun of the contestants as they struggle to learn about wine tasting, eating lobster, using the right fork for escargot and other high society type etiquette. Personally Kathy Hilton continually referring to her life as the "good life" was insulting. I know plenty of people with not a lot of money who also live the good life because of the values they hold on life and the respect they give all people, rich or not!

I think you are so right Hissy. I am boycotting that show totally!
When I seen the adverstisement for it only t.v. I couldn't believe it. It's totally outrageous! Just because the Hilton's are rich doesn't mean their life is better than anyone else's(sp?).

The woman knows NOTHING about the good life. Her and her "teacup" toy dogs.

The good life is having a kitty or several wake you up with their gentle paw on your face saying "meowmy, I'm hungry"

I doubt she even experienced that with her daughter.

The idea that their name has anything to do with wealth has practically escaped me. Shouldn't it be titled, "I wanna be a s**t"?

awwww. Come on now. They are rich and beautiful--dont hate them for that. That's how their life is, they cant help it. I didnt like the Hilton sisters because they are shallow. Well, they are still shallow and can be very pretentious, but I like the fact the Paris says she always wanted to be a vet and loves animals. Maybe someday soon she will be a good voice for animal rights?!

but ps--I am also not watching that show because I am tired of all celebrities acting that being famous somehow makes them entitled to tell us what to think/how to behave. No!

ive only seen their advertisements.
Infact it reminds me of my dads boss their house looked similar and behaved the same way.
Most people in the consulate bring up their kids as if they are something totally else, but i am glad that my dad didnt because i wouldnt be able to understand most people who dont have money.

The Hilton's are what I call fake celebrities. They somehow manage to get TV shows and movies but they have no talent. Donald trump is a fake celeb too. You couldn't pay me to watch their shows. I wouldn't be surprised if that runaway bride person ends up with a reality show too.

I haven't heard of that programme, but it does sound a bit like 'Ladette to Lady' that I watched the other night!

They get all these down to earth girls (that they say binge drink and put themselves around) with strong local accents and try to turn them into a 'lady'! They have to learn how to speak 'properly' and eat 'properly' etc then they have to party with a bunch of rich boys!

I found a little cringe-worthy, to be honest. I am not the epitome of a lady, but I know how to speak and how to act in certain situations. I felt the humiliation for them, yet also felt pretty angry at their attempts to not even make an effort and to go against the show.

I do find that these things are pretty contrived though! They do only make these programmes and choose the 'contestants' for the shock value!

But i'll agree with you Mary Anne, that there probably are a big load of rich people - probably the TV execs - laughing at the humiliation of these poor people!

How is it we all at least know the Hiltons, but very few know about James Watson (co-discoverer of DNA's double helix), or Craig Venter (who founded a company to compete with the Human Genome Project on sequencing the genome)? Im not a science person, but shouldnt we as a society hear more about people whose discoveries will impact our future?? I mean, a little fluff here and there is fine, but it seems like these days its ALL fluff and no substance!!!

I don't really care for "IT" girls etc. They seem too stuck up and because they have money can get away with most things

Who ISN'T pretty for a celebrity? I mean, with a whole TEAM of people to do your hair, make-up, and fix you healthy food on a daily basis, how can you NOT be beautiful?

Besides, has anyone seen what Paris used to look like? Darker hair and brown eyes.

Blonde hair = fake
Blue eyes = Yep, those are fake too
