Lilos appointment to be fixed is tomorrow.

But I have a problem.
I need to know which is better. Laser or regular?

Regular is $93.00 and Laser is $128.00.

I would pay a little more if it makes a difference in her recovery. But if everyone thinks she will do just fine if I decide regular.. than I will save myself $35.00 that I don't really have...LOL

Please I need ADVICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

Sorry can't offer any advice - I didn't even know there was a laser method. All our girls (including Lily spayed today) have been spayed using traditional surgery. All have been just fine.

Good luck.

Thank you for your advice.

I can remember when I was like 15 I found a kitten in the parking lot at my high school. It was pouring rain outside and this little kitten was soaking wet and hungry. I picked her up and ran to my brother (still at his car in the parking lot) and begged him to take me home with her. So he did. I helped out at my friends moms' restaraunt and told my mom and dad if they let me keep her that I would pay to get her fixed and I would take good car of her. I did too. I got her fixed traditional and I can now remember I felt so mad at myself when I went to get her b/c she couldn't walk.

But she got better quick.

So... 1 point for traditional.

I have never heard of laser surgery. My cat has been spayed traditional, and she was fine. She had to stay at the vets overnight, which was really painful for me, but when we brought her home she was doing ok. She was quite an actress though, she went into the bedroom and slept on my side of the bed, while I slept on the couch. Took the food into the bed, so she wouldnt have to get up(so I thought), then the second day when I was picking up some of her toys she jumped up and started running around like nothing happened.
She fooled me.

I think that if you get her spayed traditional she will be fine.
I am not sure what the laser surgery is like though, and I can't even imagine it being much different than the regular one.

I didn't know there was a laser surgical option either!
All mine have been traditional with no problems!

I have had many cats spayed traditional without any problems except my cat I have now. After bringning her home she was very quiet for a few days. I thought it was just her way of recovering but after her acting a little too quiet for a couple of days (hiding in the closet all day) I examined her incision to find a huge abcess. After visiting the Vet again and getting some antibiotics she was back on her feet and feeling normal in a couple of days. So just one minor setback in my experience but nothing that wasn't easily rectified.

Just did a bit of research on "laser spay." It looks to me like unless the cat is pregnant or in heat that a traditional spay should be just fine. Otherwise the laser spay does have some benefits, chiefly cauterizing blood vessels so there's very little or no bleeding.

K' so that is 4 points for traditional.

Yes there is a laser surgery. They say it is quicker recovery b/c there is no incision. And I do worry about the "abcess story" b/c she just recovered from a very bad abcess where her milk was all dried up from her 106 temp.

But I think I am leaning more toward traditional now.

My vet always says laser is better. Is your vet experienced in laser? If so, I would go with laser.

Only traditional surgery is available here, so my three were done that way. They were fine, though they reacted slightly differently - Dushka took a little longer to recover than the other two. But as long as you inspect the incision regularly and contact hte vet at once if there seems to be a problem, I would say it will be fine to go traditional.

One more here for traditional surgery. Vets have been doing it for years and there are usually not many problems involved. Yes all cats are different and some may react badly, but you cat will most likely be perfectly fine. The good thing is that you are having it done!

All of mine have all always been spayed and/or neutered the good ole' fashion way -- traditional surgery.

If I could afford it, I would go with the laser though. The recovery time is amazing and as already stated, no bleeding etc.

You are very lucky to get those prices...laser quote I received was in the $300 range for a spay.

Oh wow!!!
Really? That much? Well I live in a small town so I guess I am lucky to even have the laser option.
