I'm worried about my 8-year-old male. He's lost a lot of weight and has been puking up very FOUL smelling hairballs--with a brown liquid. It actually smells like feces. I've had cats all my life, but have never experienced this. Is it cause for concern, or simply intestinal obstruction? Also, any home-made hairball remedies? As always, thanks for the knowledge!

As I was reading your post "intestinal obstruction" started coming to mind and then I read this:

Intestinal obstruction is NOT "simply" and it's a HUGE cause for concern!! This is not the time for homemade remedies. Get this cat to a vet, pronto. Please!!

Are you putting us on? "simply" intestinal obstruction"?

Yes, it is clearly cause for concern and please take this cat to a vet to sort out what might be happening with its (a) significant weight loss and (b) hairballs/brown liquid. These are fairly overt physical symptoms where real-time diagnosis is necessary.

As everyone else has stated, an intestinal blockage is no small matter. But, it's okay, perhaps you didn't know. What you describe sounds like a serious matter, and sounds like it requires immediate vet attention. I hope that you can get him to a vet soon. Good luck! I'll say a prayer for you and your cat!
