Many cats...choose to sleep on or even in bed with people.

When cats behave this way they are really behaving as kittens, seeking out the satisfying security of a mother....This close proximity brings them in contact with human odors, and armpits are particularly appealing.

Human armpits are riddled with odor-producing glands.... One or more of these odors is ... so close to the odor of their mother's nipples that it stimulates the now adult animal to nestle, tread..., and suck. If humans don't like this activity, they should wash their armpits

That explains the furious armpit lickings I recieve when I forget deodorant. (laughs)

Than you for this. My 9 yr old cat has started chewing in my crutch tops (I use crutches daily) . He doesn't suckle he chews them with fury . A little experiment showed me he'll chew anything that's been under my arm. Lol I now know why.
