Hi, all!! I recently discovered thecatsite and have lurked a bit. It seems a helpful, good-natured site.

It's been a while since I've been owned by a cat,
but intend to do something about it soon. I hope you can give me some ideas on how to proceed with new cat ownership. There are sooooooo many products on the market, it's hard to know which to get.

Anyway, I look forward to posting.

HI
. I am glad you are thinking of getting a new cat. Cats are great
. You can search here:www.petfinder.org for adoptable pets in your area. They list local rescue groups in your area adopting cats(there are also lists of pedigree cats too if that is your fancy. There are so many cats that need homes so I am glad you want another one. Good luck and let us know how it goes. Catlover7731-Mom to Zeus and Hera.

Hi and welcome to TCS! I haven't been here long myself, but everything you said about this site is true!

We found Abby on petfinder.org.

There are a lot of products out there and no one thing is right for all cats. You have to get to know your kitty to see what it will like best.

Welcome, foxfire!
May I suggest that in looking for a new cat, you give priority to adult cats at your local shelter? Of course, a shelter kitten would be fine, but everyone wants kittens so the adult cats can be harder to place. Many of them had to be turned in through no fault of their own (owners died, moved, new babies have allegies, etc.)

I should talk, all four of our cats have been under one year of age when we brought them in! But if I were starting out again, I would go for one of those sad cases.
