Just a heads up. If you have one of those personalized smilies from a Smilie Generator website, please keep an eye on what it says. It appears that someone is playing games at that site, a hacker (probably a bored kid) or something, and is changing those signs to say some pretty obscene and inappropriate things. We realize that it isn't any of YOU making those smilies say that, but if we see a changed one before you do we will go in and remove it from your signature. Just FYI.
But we do appreciate the heads up on everyone's part. So far, there have been at least 3 that I have personally heard of being changed here.

I am in NO way promoting this site!
I am ONLY giving this site as a reference to what a smilie generator is.
I have NO idea if this is the site that is being used by some of our Cat Site members.

ONLY to show what is meant by smilie generator!

So far out in left field I got lost
I have also seen in someones siggy a sign that tells what your ISP provider, computer ID number, what kind of platform you are using and what kind of IE you are running. I don't like seeing that either as it feels like an invasion of privacy. Is there a way to stop those too?

Cathi, I know it's strange seeing your personal information up on the screen. The reality is that this information (ISP, IP#, etc.) is collected or at least available to every website you visit. Those signatures are generated by using public information about you that is only shown to you, I think just as a reminder that your information is out there.

I agree with Heidi. It's a good reminder that we are not as anonymous as we think we are on the net. Why do you think you end up with all that spam in your mailbox?

If you are worried about your privacy on the internet - Always read the privacy policy of the website you are visiting - by law (at least SA law) they are required to list what information is being gathered from you, and wether they will sell this info onto 3rd-parties (eg: mailing lists).
It is automatically assumed that if you have visited a website that you have agreed to these conditions.
