I can't stand CJ's heat! Ew! I have too many pictures that I didn't want to see embeded in my mind!
That's it! She's getting spayed! I'm going to call the vet tomorrow and schedule. I hate it, because we seperate her and Billy, because it's disgusting... they don't care if you're sitting right in front of them!

So, in about a week, I'll give ya another update. Please save some prayers for CJ! Thanks!

Cassie

You are doing the right thing!! Your CJ will be a healthier & happier fuzz face because of it!! All felines...inside & out should be spayed and/or neutered...just my opinion.

I was just scared at first... she had bad reactions to vaccs, and bad reactions to vets... but after doing some research, I think she'll be okay. I just can't stand her heat anymore!

I think you are making a great decision for her.
I also am getting LILo fixed. Her appt. is on the 22nd. Im kinda nervous, but I know it is best for her.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Will do... how old are your kits now, BTW? I love that pic of them in your signature... it's so cute. Reminds me of when Mirah and Annie were that little.

Awww, thanks!!
They turn 5 weeks old today!!! HOORAY!!!!

They are so big!!! Its been like watching my kids grow. Only it took them 3 weeks to walk and it took the girls 1 year! LOL

They are all so unique.
Take a look at this pic of Laynee with them. She took this pic their first night in the house b/c LILO got an abcess and temp of 106 and had to be seperated from them. The temp dried up all of her milk.
Laynee was so worried about the kittens she kept saying "poor babies momma, this is their first time to sleep w/o their momma"

I understand your concerns with CJ because I was terrified of letting Persil be operated on again after the surgery she had at Christmas. Even the vet wanted to wait till she was a strong as possible. But after she went into her first heat I persuaded the vet to spay her, and all went absolutely fine. I am sure it will with CJ too.

I'm sure she will too... but it's still a little scary.

She is doing great. She had her last dose of her antibiotic Thursday night. Her abcess has healed very nicely.

I was amazed at how quick it closed and healed b/c it was a hole!! Of course it was ...LOL
... it was an abcess. But really it was terrible. The vet freaked out once he opened it and pushed on it and saw howmuch was coming out of there. I started just boo-hooing
like a big baby. But it hurt me to hear her screaming. The vet made me leave until they got it all out (which was a good 5 minutes). He told me he couldn't even guess how many ounces of puss came out of there. I have not let her outside (I usually let her out in our fenced in back yard to play a little) since she has had the babies b/c I thought the babies should be her only priority, so he said she proabaly got the abcess by one of the kittens scratching her or biting her as they were nursing.

Sorry for the long story....
I am just so happy she is doing better. Also.. I want to ask you something. I posted a thread on it but I only got one answer on it. And this person was not 100% sure if is possible.

The vet said from her 106 temp... that it dried all of her milk. And before yesturday it had been a little over a week that she had nursed them. But yesturday she was laying down (I caught her 2 different times) nursing the kittens. Is it possible after being stimulated that she produced more milk?

So glad to hear she's doing better. Regarding your question, I would think it's possible, but I really just don't know... if she's nursing, and the kittens are satisfied, then she must be producing milk. I don't see why she wouldn't. Since they are five weeks old, they don't need as much milk, and so she's not producing as much milk for them, so perhaps it's easier on her body now, because she doesn't have to produce so much, which is allowing her to produce just enough? Just my thoughts, not facts, but I don't see why she couldn't produce milk now that her fever is gone.

She actually almost bit the vet the last time she went... when she got her vaccs, she really clawed up the vet's hand!
