Jennifer Wilbanks Cashing In

I am totally disgusted with her and with her fiance! Half a million dollars to tell her life story.
I think she should give the money to rescue efforts for people who have really been abducted.
I cannot stand this woman, and I am upset that she is from GA, where I live!
I cannot believe this.
I can't even type what I am thinking of her.

Yesterday, when I logged in to AOL, one of the AOL news headlines was about the "Runaway Bride" and "Deep Throat" selling their stories and how there was a negative reaction. As I see it, the man who was "Deep Throat" played a large role in a very important event in recent American political history, kept his role silent for 30-odd years and now is quite open about revealing himself to support his family. The "Runaway Bride", on the other hand...I think she's just cashing in on her 15 minutes of fame.

She is not actually FROM Georgia, she just lives there. I am from Augusta, and I can't stand that dimwit, either! She always looks like she just sat on a tack.
I cannot imagine what could be half a million bucks worth of interesting about someone so stupid.

I don't know which is worse...

That she and her fiance took the money for the story, particularly when they certainly aren't paying the amount that the taxpayers spent trying to find her...

Or that someone in the media actually thought it was worth paying half a million for.

There are a lot of needy people in this world who need that money more than she and her fiance ever would!! I mean half a million could feed one whole starving country.

She needs to pay back the city, every red cent that it cost to find her after her "abduction". I heard she's only paid back like 1/4 of it so far.

And, she needs to pay her bridesmaids back for the dresses, shoes and jewelry they bought; and the groomsmen and everyone involved in the big not-wedding should be paid back. I'm sure lots of people lost money on that.

Apparently they are from a rich family, she's not hurting for money. So she oughta take the half-mil & pay back all those she screwed with on that day she decided to go for a run.

I think she's a loon and even IF her mental problems are solved and IF she's on enough medication or whatever... she's still a freaking loon. And she's getting paid to be a loon.

Amen! I also think she ought to have to give anything left after all that to help find people who have REALLY been abducted, and I think she owes the entire Hispanic population an apology.

You know I am sick to death of people calling people with mental illnesses names like, loon, fruitcake, maniacs, not playing with a full deck, looney, crazy, etc. We don't have similar terms for people with breast cancer, prostate cancer, heart disease, diabetes, so why should people like myself have to suffer through these words? This has nothing to do with the Jennifer Wilbanks case, as I don't think she should profit either. But when are people going to wake up and change their language. Using words like loon only encourages the stigma.

You're right. I apologize if I gave the impression of stigmatizing her.
I have a disease called neurofibramotosis, which CAN be a physical and/or mental handicap. I would rather people call it by the proper name rather than by saying that it is a handicap, even. TO me, it is NOT a handicap. I have little bumps/tumors on my skin.
It makes you feel like scum when others use those terms.
Thank you for pointing this out.

You know it's not *the* media that paid her, it was this tabloid ghost writer who did.

Well, I used the term "media" loosely meaning someone with an outlet to publish/produce such a "story", as obviously anyone with journalistic integrity (hmmm...does that really exist anymore? ) wouldn't pay her a red cent for her story.

Bobbie, Thank you for understanding. However, I certainly did not see you using any term that was derogatory toward the mentally ill. Those people know who they are. I've seen enough of those types of postings, and from now on will not be meek about pointing it out in giant red ink.

Thanks again for your concern.
