Kitten in bad shape!

My kitten was acquired at an animal shelter. She is approximately 7 weeks old. She has runny stool, though not as bad as it was before, and now has the shakes and runny eyes, as well as sneezes (though not often).

She is extremely playful, and happy. She eats and drinks regularly, as well as uses her litter box just as regularly.

She seems happy, and is playing like there is no tommorrow, but the shivers (when she warms up she stops), and the runny eyes and sneezes worry me.

I would love to take her to the vet, but I can't till Monday at the earliest. Any suggestions now to help her out?

She is on week 3 of 4 for worm treatment (not sure if she has it, but we are treating her for it), and she had antibiotics for a few weeks (ended about a week ago).

Anyone have any suggestions as to what this might be?

If she is dehydrated, the vet care can't wait. While she is on the floor, gently pinch the scruff of her neck and hold it for a few seconds. Let it go, if it stays tented up get her to the vet NOW- if it folds down in seconds then she is still hydrated. What are you feeding her- and have you switched foods on her recently?

She is hydrated just fine. She drinks all the time, and is healthy and playful.

She has the shivers and runny eyes and sneezes...as well as has diarhea, but we think that is worms (which she is being treated for).

No new food change, she is only 6/7 weeks old or so, so she is eating solid food...and it hasn't been changed.

I had the same problem with my cat when we adopted her from the humane society, she was a 1 1/2 years old..still is, got her two and a half 3 months ago. She had diarrhea, sneezing, runny nose. She got antibiotics from the vet which she had to take for 10 days. My vet said that they catch all kinds of things at the shelter from the other cats. I was very worried, overly worried actually, but when the vet saw her again some 4 days after the first visit she said that as long as she is drinking and eating fine I should just give it some time. So if she is drinking, eating and is in a good mood I don't think you have to worry too much until you get her to the vet. But then again I am not a doctor nor am I that experienced, I can just repeat what my vet said to me

All three of my cats came to me with upper respiratory infections and worms. Their symptoms were very similar to what you're describing. If her sneezing and runny-ness gets worse get her to a vet asap, as they can go downhill pretty quickly. Hopefully it's just a run of the mill case of the respiratory infection.

That does sound like an upper resp...and if it is, it should be treated. I would contact your vet and get her seen.

What about the shivering? I haven't heard of that symptom before due to a URI. Would that be because it's a young kitten? Or is it unrelated? Hoping to learn something here.....thanks.

Well, vet will be seen this afternoon.

We think it is URI, as you all said.

The shivering, I'm sure is becuase she is SO tiny. I already fell in love with the kitten, so anything in regards to her...I'll do it.

In any case, now I'm worried, as she has to take the ferry with me tommorrow.

IT's 2.5 hours, but her little kennel is all set up with a heat pack, covered mostly, and out of the wind...I'm so worried though.

That's exactly what I am, overworried...your response has calmed me a bit.

You learn to love them, maybe too much sometimes...

It's hard, they can't tell youwhat is wrong, and your mind goes nuts!
Thank you.
