Earthquake/Microchip???

I made an appointment with my vet. for next Monday to have Dexter & Sadie microchipped. I live in an area of So. California that has been having a lot of earthquakes.
Even though my kitties are indoor only & we live on the 3rd floor of a mutli-story complex, I am concerned that if we should have a large earthquake, they could become lost.

My question is..."Avid" is the chip that my vet uses. Does anyone have any experience with that chip? If your kitties are chipped...have they have any problems & do you have any thoughts or advice for us. Thanks for your feedback.

All of my cats have Avid as does one of my birds. No problems here.
