Cat's neurotic licking!

If anyone can help me on this one, that would be great!
My problem is that my cat will get into a licking fit where he cannot stop licking himself, me, or whatever is around him! just now he kept licking me for 5 minutes and every time I tried stopping him, he would start licking the keyboard (he is laying up on the desk between me and the keyboard because he is jealous of it!)!! I have read about some cats doing this and licking floors and furniture but my cat prefers licking me, himself,a pillow or my sheet on the bed. And he doesn't do this all the time but about twice a day for about 15 minutes or more!! What the heck is going on??

Hmmm Im not too sure, but alot of cats do have similar behaviour, most cats that do this prefer to lick/suck on woolley types of fabric, the condition is known as Pica...(I think?!!) One of my cats Bod, does this all the time,he too does it on sheets and jumpers etc, he will even lick my bare skin!! I don't really know what to suggest or what causes it as such.....hopefully someone here will have some better suggestions for you!!

Yes, I have had a cat before that would suck on wooly fabrics and knead on some materials but never one that does this! His favorite thing to lick IS my bare skin and he will lick for days if I let him (which I don't!). Sometimes he has even waken me up when I am sleeping because he is licking my arm or hand! He doesn't do it for food or attention because I am home all day and he gets PLENTY of attention. It seems like it is almost like he is grooming me like he would a kitten or something. Hee hee...maybe he just loves ya!! LOTS!! Cute!! Hope you get it figured it soon! (heh heh....you could try spraying yourself with citrus spray....they don't like that!!! ha ha ha ha ha...JOKE!!! )

HAHA! You are probably right! He does love me lots, that is for sure! My silly cat follows me around ALL the time and even if he is dead asleep and I leave the room we were both in, he will know I am gone and wake up and run and find me! Then he is always underfoot and while we are walking, he looks up at me the whole time so he is always running into things because he is not paying attention to where he is walking! heehee! So crazy and cute!
