Hello everybody! My name is Aleksandra and my new partner in crime is Staybler. If u have a moment....here's my story.
My kitten is about 9 wks old and his name is Staybler. I took him from his mother (my outdoor cat) about a week and a half ago. I first named him Benson (after the detective on Law and Order: SVU. My favorite show). I thought he was a female until I took him to the vet recently and they told me he was a male. My bad. So now he is the male detective on the show. Anyways, the vet kept him over night for observation because he is very slim. When he had his BM, the Vet told me she found roundworms. She gave him a pill and told me he may be prone to respiratory problems. I have noticed in his BM's there were worms and they were dead. He eats just fine and stays well hydrated.
My question is...he is not as active and playful as I would have expected a young kitten to be. I bought him toys and a scratch pad, but he does not quite get it yet. I am training him to be an indoor cat and he seems to be doing fine with that. He sleeps ALOT. When I come home from work, he will not leave my sight. He falls on my lap to sleep and climbs on my legs to my shoulder when I'm cooking dinner. He just sits on my shoulder like a parrot, its so cute. The last BM was about 2 hours ago and I did not see any worms. What do ya think? His next appointment is in a week and a half. I called the vet regarding the lack of playfulness and lack of weight gain. She said it takes about 24-48 hrs for the worms to die and about 2 weeks to notice a significant weight gain. What do you think? Any input is really appreciated.
Also, I have noticed he has dried mucous on the corner of his eyes. Is this a respiratory problem or what.
Thanks, Aleksandra and Staybler
