meat cooking question

I've been mostly vegetarian for a while now (I only eat meat when I eat at other people's places or once in a while at a restaurant).

I am looking into making some homemade cat food and a thought occured... I do not really know how to cook meat! Especially boned chicken. (ground meat I can handle!)

what is the easiest way to cook chicken? (without using any flavoring)
is it easier to debone chicken before or after cooking?
Will a particular cooking method make it easier to debone?

I boil meat when cooking for cats.
It will come right off the bone when boiled.

If it's chicken, you'll know when it's done

Chicken falls apart into little strips of meat.
Skin is actually easier to remove raw.

I had this same problem, after being vegetarian for a really long time. Make sure you get a meat thermometer. Chicken should be about 180 degrees F, when the thermometer is stuck in the meatyist part. Boiling is easy, as is baking. Bone in chicken takes a little longer to cook- generally around an hour, 20 minutes. Go to the Perdue Chicken website- they list cooking instructions for different cuts of chicken and cooking methods.

At my house, we know when chicken is done by the three cats meowing around the stove! But a meat thermometer is a safer way to make sure it's cooked through. (You also don't want to see ANY pink.)
