This just came across as Breaking News... They were charged with murder all along.

MSNBC Article

ORANJESTAD, Aruba - Three young men were charged with murder in the disappearance of an Alabama teenager when they were arrested more than three weeks ago, Aruba's chief prosecutor told The Associated Press on Friday.

It was not announced at the time to protect the family of 18-year-old honor student Natalee Holloway, said Attorney General Karin Janssen.

"The three have been charged with the murder of Natalee Holloway from the beginning" of their arrest 10 days after the young woman went missing May 30, she said in an interview.

I just read in the news today that the breaking news released yesterday was wrong. Sorry guys, guess the media makes mistakes...imagine that.

Suspects could be charged with murder

It wasn'tthe media's fault, the AG actually said that so they reported what they were told. I think Aruba is in over their heads in that they don't know how to communicate with each other or the public in big cases.

Thanks for clarifying Marge!
I agree with you, Aruba is in way over their heads. The part I don't understand is how the guys are being charged with murder? I think they had something to do with it, but there has not been any evidence to show she was murdered as far as I know. Even 3 weeks ago when everyone was still searching for her there was talk of murder charges. I guess there may be a lot going on that we don't know about.
I really hope this cased is figured out soon. Her parents won't have any closure until it is.

So now they just have the main suspect in custody, the young man she was with last, who has already lied at least once about where she was last.
I have no idea if he is guilty or not, no one does.

I am really feeling for this family.

I'm so scared that they're never gonna get to the bottom of this It is crucial to start the investigation immediately when someone disappears or is murdered. The first 48 hours are CRUCIAL. The Aruban government didn't start the investigation until like 3 WEEKS after she was discovered missing--------that is crap!!! It really makes you wonder if the case was MEANT to go cold

I'm worried it's been too messed up to be solved too. Why those boys weren't detained and questioned extensively right after she was missing is beyond me.

I am afraid it will become local folklore and never solved. *sigh* how that Mother must be feeling.

I hope this turns out to be something that will help authorities get to the bottom of Natalee's disappearance.

I understand that area of the island is pretty remote, only someone who really knows the area could have known where to go. And a car coulnd't get to it, at least not a usual car or even SUV.

If the Kalpoes and Van der Sloot were hiding something, it DOES make sense that they would point authorities in the wrong direction, saying that they were on the opposite side of the island with Natalee.

Yep, I am very suspicious. Maybe this will help them to crack too, someone has to start talking. that father saying "no body no case" is so creepy to me, imagine a Father saying that to his son.

I KNOW. He (the father) could have been the one to advise them to lie about their last location with her. I mean, they had WEEKS to get their stories together, you know.

Right, I hear the stories have changed numerous times. And now he can visit his son without anyone there.

I haven't seen it reported on any websites yet but when I was at the dentist's office earlier this morning, I saw on the news that the Van der Sloot boy and the 2 Kalpoe brothers were ordered to give DNA samples. It's believed to be linked with the piece of duct tape found.

I saw that although I can't fathom why they didn't get the samples earlier.

I agree, MArge. What saddens me is that they HAD these guys at the beginning and then let them go because of the lies they told regarding the security guards.
I think that these guys KNOW what happened to Natalie.
I am afraid she is dead. I just want some closure for the family. What a horrible thing for them to live with!

Yet, there are other parents who have gone through the same thing. Their children's cases were not as well publicized, though. It seems unfair.

Aruban authorities have drained a pond near where the hotel where Holloway was staying. Holloway's father also says that they have received info from 2 new witnesses. This is a very interesting article. It says a witness saw the Van der sloot boy and the 2 Kalpoe boys going into a nightclub at 2:30 am------the time they had previously claimed they had arrived home.

I saw that Natalee's family is offering a million dollar reward for her safe return. Unfortunately, my first thought was that it was a pretty safe reward to offer, because there is no way after all this time that she will be returned safely.

Just heard on the radio that Aruban authorities have asked her family not to watch as they drain the pond, which led the step-father to believe that they know something.

I read about that, it seems like it's been going on forever doesn't it?
any updates? I'm assuming they didn't find anything in the drained lake?
Just heard that the hair they found on the beach (I assume with the duct tape) did not match Natalee. Haven't heard anything about the pond.

It's getting werid, apparently there is a report that Natalees toothbrush had male DNA on it, now what that means I don't know. Also that the prime suspect lost a shoe the night in question. They even think that is why they are draining the pond, not to find her. I don't think anyone knows anything but rumors at this point.
