I have a Calico (~8 months) who attacks herself. She doesn't do any real damage, but she lays on the floor and bites at her back legs and tail ... there is A LOT of growling and hissing during all of this as well. I have two other cats (Tabby boys) about the same age - they all do some playing together and some light attacking, but nothing like the way she attacks herself - it sounds like two cats in a serious fight, but it's just her and her 'other' self. I'm more than a little bit confused and perplexed by this. Anyone seen this or have any thoughts on dealing with it?

Many Thanks...

Is she flea-treated safely? Or did you perhaps use something over-the-counter on her?

When you pet her, does her fur ripple and does she turn and try to snap your hand?

Does she ever just get up and run around in circles until she exhausts herself?

yep - she's treated regularly with Revolution Flea/Wormer

no - she's actually *extremly* sweet most of the time ... always wants to be near me ... laying on my computer monitor now
... petting her on her head is fine pretty much all the time - occasionally, if I try to pet her just after one of her episodes, she'll tend to try to bite me. Sometimes she reacts negatively to being petted on her back close to her hindquarters. Rubbing her belly always gets a negative reaction, and holding her feet always provokes biting, growling.

not really - she loves to dart around the house, but it's usually to get into a room I'm going to before me.

Thanks for the help!
