Before you book first class be sure you can get a window seat there - that to my mind is more important on your first flight than the class. But enjoy!

Are you sure you want a window seat? I've been traveling across the Atlantic on a fairly regular basis for the past 34 years, and usually book an aisle seat when I'm traveling alone (that way I don't have to disturb anybody when I want to get up, and have leg room). When I'm not traveling alone, I reserve a window and an aisle seat (husband, brother, nephew, grandparents, friends) and put the "less-frequent" fliers in the window seat. Most of them want to trade seats with me after take-off, because they get too nervous!

I've flown First Class before. Once you do, you hate having to fly coach again. The seats are larger, much more comfortable. The food is a LOT better, more like fine dining than airplane food, and they don't give a chincy bag of nuts or crackers like they do in coach for a snack, but these delicious mixed nuts that are warmed and a wet napkin to wipe your hands.

I remember I flew from LA to Toronto and back First Class: Going: I flew the all nighter there. They announced as we were boarding that there would be no meal served during the flight. After we were airborne the stewerdess asked me if I wanted a hamburger, cheeseburger or Pizza. I was like....What? I thought there were no meals being served. She said, we in First class still got food. So I had Pizza.

Coming back: I had delicious Salmon meal with a seasoned wild rice and delicious veggies and for desert, I had a HOT FUDGE SUNDAE.

I've flown loads of times coach, and I can tell you, I never had a meal like that on a plane. If I could afford it, I'd fly first class all of the time.

My husband and I have had the great good fortune to be upgraded on two transatlantic flights. It was marvelous. I love the little comfort packs they give you. I still have them and take them on all my flights, after updating all the goodies. And then I've also been stuck in the middle seat on two flights. Yuck. The last time was when my husband and I were flying home from Germany. We were seated in the middle section of the last row and there were only three seats. Chris offered to sit in the middle, but his shoulders are so broad, I said no. The guy sitting on the other side of me got rip-roaring drunk, sweating, talking to himself, etc. I was miserable.
