Just wondering . . . do you have to have separate carriers for each cat?

Air Canada is selling us a carrier for the kitten that we are shipping on July 6 to California. It is $51.75 (including all taxes and we have a lot of taxes here in Canada) and it is ours to keep. It has a built in water dish as well. They recommend that we get this one and I can't see that it is any more expensive than the pet stores.

Personally I would not get a soft-sided carrier for air travel as the animals will be in with other items and something could easily bang into the carrier and hurt the animal.

According to the information I received from our Toronto Customs, if you are shipping 2 small cats or dogs they can go in one cage, or several rabbits, ferrets, etc. They have a maximum number for each of the species which you can find on www.aphis.usda.gov (that's the US customs information).

My kitties will be In the cabin with me. Thats the whole point of me going on the trip
they are my carry on hehehe....and the airline I am going with suggests soft sided for carry on so that it can be flexible to fit under the seats.

They dont ship cargo at all, but yes if they went cargo..they would certainly be in a hard carrier.

I'm bringing Seamus on vacation with me and just bought the Sherpa carrier. He's riding in the cabin with me also. He's usually really good in his hard carrier for car trips, so I hope he enjoys this soft sided one too. It certainly wasn't cheap.

That's the one I got, only I bought the large size in black. I should have checked online first. The medium black sherpa was on sale for $49.95 at my store.

I agree with you that if I were also flying, the little one would be with me in the cabin (and only under the seat until we were airborne then on my lap). Unfortunately I'm not going to be on the flight with our little Blue Girl, so she'll have the hard sided carrier and be sent in Cargo.
