I have a colony that I have been taking care of and now that the warmer months are here, I was wondering what I could do to help them fend off fleas and/or ticks.

I have heard that putting some garlic in their food might help?

Anyone hear of this? Suggestions?

Garlic can be quite dangerous for cats long term. I wouldn't recomment it. If you can touch them at all I would recommend Advantage. Trapping and giving the 6 month Program injection would also help control the fleas. Cleaning out any bedding/ straw regularly would also help. If there are no kittens, perhaps you could find a spray or something that is safe and spray the bedding and shelter.

It is a myth that garlic repels ticks and fleas. Advantage or frontline are really the best way to go, if you can at least touch your ferals. If they are totally wild, all you can do is your best. You can add organic catnip to their evening feed to help give them fiber and help push tapeworms out of their system. But without proper flea treatment they are at the mercy of any fleaborne disease

Thank-you. I can easily pet these so-called "ferals". I will keep my eyes open for "Advantage" or "Frontline".

I thought so...just wanted to make sure.

EntirelyPets.com has good prices for Advantage and Frontline. It's much cheaper than buying it from your vet.

I've been using EntirelyPets.com for about 6 years and never had a problem
with their products. I understand they have a vet that checks over all the prescriptions that they fill.
