Fresh Flow

That darn Fresh Flow Fountain broke. Is there any way to bring it back to life?
It's not pumping water no more. I guess if I can't fix it, they are getting a new one. Which one should it be? Does Drinkwell last a long time?

i recall reading here that someone called Petmate to order a new pump, but the customer service rep first went through a quick diagnostic cleaning that fixed the problem. worth a shot to give them a call.

when you clean the fountain, do you take the pump apart? hair and whatnot can build up in there.

i had the Drinkwell before the Fresh Flow. the Drinkwell has a spout that creates more a fountain effect, which is much noiser than the Fresh Flow which just runs the water down the ramp. also, the texture of the Drinkwell is more rough, rather than the smooth finish of the Petmate, which made it more difficult to tell if i had removed any surface debris during cleaning. i'm not sure one lasts longer than the other.

hope that helps,
phil

It's absolutely necessary to take the pump apart and clean it every time you clean the fountain. (And says to clean it in the instructions). Not doing so is one way those things burn out. (The other is letting them run low on water). If you clean it and it still doesn't run, then you can order a new one either by calling their customer service or on their web site. I bought one as a back-up and I think it was $20 plus shipping.
