after reading a post about the site dogmania it got me thinking just how fantastic the catsite is, i have been a member of a few forums and 99% of then are filled with arguments.
when on these sort of forums i feel tense and only want to reply back to the trouble makers to try to explain my point of veiw even though i know they won't listen, it turns into flaming over nothing and all i get from forums such as these is a headache and sadness.
the comparison, the catsite is like a warm inn, where you can sit down near an open fire and have a nice cup of hot chocolate while discussing your opinion, sharing stories, telling jokes and getting advice, many other forums are like rabid packs of wolves, ready to take you down at the slightest provocation or difference of opinion, i wonder if these people realise that while they are trying to get their opinion across they are doing nothing at all to help new owners of dogs. why do people have to act like this? i understand that everyone has different opinions but when that type of thing is discussed here it is done in a civil manner and the topic soon ends, in other forums it becomes a war that lasts for months.
it's almost like you have this group of people who rule some forums, like schoolyard bullies and if they don't like you they are determened to bring you down by upsetting you, arguing with you or making you look silly, forums like that are so hard to get into that i have given up trying, the catsite on the other hand is so welcoming, there is no year long initiation to become a respected member nor do you have to be nasty and gang up on new members to be accepted.
The forums i co-moderate are fantastic too but they have nothing to do with pets, so i guess in my whole life i have only come across two froums where i have felt truly welcomed.
thankyou all for being so fantastic
love,
felicia
