okay, my kittens turned three weeks today and as i was giving mom her food, 3 of the four kittens jumped on it!! is this healthy at this age??? one of them, the biggest one, and he is HUGE, was diving right in there. I have been feeding mom some kitten food for the extra protein because she is nursing, so i was not worried about the quality of the food. (I also feed science diet..) then after a few minutes it was time to drink some milk. it was comical watching them with wobbly legs trying to eat...is this usual?? just wondering, because doing my research on kittens, i saw it was usually four to five weeks.

The one thing consistant thing I have learned about cats is that they are horribly inconsistant. *grin* I've seen kittens start to explore the food dish as early as 2 and a half weeks or as late as 10 to 12 weeks (the little poops! I THOUGHT they weren't eating the dry chow and walked in on them having an absolute feast - but when they saw me, of course it was an immediate stampede of kittens wanting to be bottled!)

If your babies are eating on their own now, let them.
