after reading a number of posts here and elsewhere, i decided to give Worlds Best Cat Litter a shot. i had been using crystals along with a Litter Locker, but the monthly expense of the locker refills, and the smell of the box after a while (from urine) led me to try something new. so far (few days), i am really impressed with this stuff. a very light natural smell, very easy to rake with no dust clouds, clumps pretty well, easy to scoop it up and drop into the toliet where it breaks back apart and flush... no odor left. it doesn't dehydrate (and thus remove the smell from) the poop like the crystals, but for ease of use, and the longer term odor of urine (which would seem to "collect" at the bottom of the pan with crystals), i'm more than happy. kirby also didn't have any real issue adjusting to a complete switch.

that said, i was initially shocked at the price. i paid $24.99 for a 17lb bag at PetCo. I had looked online, and found much cheaper prices, but by the time shipping costs were factored in, the bargain dissapeared. one local store had good pricing on the 7lb (under $9).

today i stopped in Petsmart to get something else, and they had the Original version for $15.99 with their loyalty card ($17.99 w/o, which is their everyday price). that's better than even any online site i found, and no shipping!!

a question for you all, does anyone use the multi-cat version? how much different is it from the original? worth the extra $1-2 per bag?

cheers,
phil

Yes, I'd noticed it's much cheaper at Petsmart for some reason, too!

I've used both the multi-cat and the regular, and honestly I don't notice any difference at all.

I didn't like multi-cat version. I use the original formula only.

I didn't think it was clamping as well as the original. The color was gray and I like the yellow color better. The smell wasn't as good. I just wasn't happy with it so I am not buying it again.

great, thanks for the feedback. i did notice the grey-ish coloring through the bag, but i wasn't sure as the original is much more yellow/orange in the box than it appears through the bag. they apparently added some sort of plant based fragrance to the Extra Strength.

had only the original formula been available, i would be plenty happy with the results. but the fact that they offered an "extra strength" just got me curious if i was missing out on something. but it appears not.

thanks again,
phil

You are welcome. Of course you could always just try it for yourself, but I didn't like it. I actually bought it by mistake, not noticing, and when I brought it home it was all gray, and I didn't like the way it smelled, and then it wasn't clamping as well. Go figure! One would imagine that since it's for multiple cats, it should be better clamping, but it's not.
