Hi folks, I'm Scavenger, and I'm from NYC. I have had cats for most of my life, and recently lost my whole cat family over a period of three years from, basically, old age. They were 18 1/2, 19 and 20 years old respectively when they passed, the last one this January.
I now have a new kitty, a sudden addition due to a friend finding her on the street, and she's pregnant to boot! I'm joining here for support and learning, as my other cats were all boys, and, to quote Butterfly McQueen: "I don't know nothing about birthing no babies." ;-D
What I do know about and would be glad to field any questions on is the extended care of diabetic cats, as my cat had diabetes for 6 years, and I managed his care for all of that time, which progressed from dietary control to full-blown twice daily injections and glucose monitoring during his final years. It finally took him, but he was 20 so I guess his time had just come.
Well, that's that, glad to be here and looking forward to discussions.
