My brother saw a black kitty outside at the window this morning, upon a closer look he discovered it was Spyder!
He was scared and came back in willingly enough...I don't know why he goes out because when he does (hopefully this is the first and last time this summer) it upsets him so much he hyperventilates....keeps panting...for at least 15 minutes when he gets back inside!
Seems the kitties broke out a window screen and Spyder and Francine got outside...Chuckie was half out the window when my brother noticed and he came back inside. Francine was easy to catch as she can't run very fast...her chubby belly slows her down!

This is the main reason why I hate the summer
because this happens at least once each summer!!

I feel your pain. My Buzz continously bolts out the door when I let the dogs in or out. He did it again just this morning. I think he hides and waits for me to open that slider, then BOOM just like a ball from a cannon he's gone.

Scooter is constantly trying to escape, and he is a sneaky litttle critter! He has discovered the garage, and figured out he can wiggle under the door. Fred like to go in to the garage to sleep, so Scooter runs in there after him, thinking he can escape under the door. I got tired of running outside and scooping him up as he came under the door, so I hid behind the big trash can yesterday, thinking I could scare him and make him stop. I stayed there for about 5 minutes, then I decide he wasn't coming out. I stood up, turned around, and there stands Scooter, on the hood of the car. He looked at me like "what in the world are you doing?" No wonder my neighbors look at me funny!

Thanks everyone!

At least my kitties aren't the only escape artists!

At least it wasn't as bad as a couple of summers ago when 5 of them got out at once!

I can remember before Buzz learned the bolt technique he squeezed himself between the dogs as they were in a sit stay waiting to go out. When I opened the door he would just simply slip out with them.
Fortunately I was able to scoop him up because he was cautious then. Not now though. @#$%^&* CAT!

I have that same heart attack with Rambo. Rambo is only 4 months old but loves to dart outside when I am trying to bring groceries/packages in the house. He got out twice yesterday. So i go tearing off after him calling for him and my neighbours are starring out their windows like i'm nuts. He hasn't gone far yet, but the front yard isn't very deep and people go speeding down my street all the time.

always good to get the blood flowing i guess!!! i wish i could make them stop doing that. I also had to close all my windows because lucky was trying to push out all the screens!!

Here... or There... Hmmm
I'm lucky that kitter's doesn't really try to get out ever and she actually has a stool in the front door that she sits on and when I come in or go out she just sits there and watches. She has plenty of time and oppertunity to get out but she gets scared outside so she just stays on her stool. Yesterday when I came home from work my BF friend had come over and left the door cracked open, where all Kitter's would have to do was push a little and she'd be out, she was just sitting there on her stool and didn't even care. I still yelled at my BF and his friend though.... Cuz I don't want her to get out... I wasn't really mean though.... I'm glad your kitty's came back without much drama!

That's HILARIOUS!

Glad to hear that u got kits back inside with no harm.. WHEW..

So far, NONE Of my kits have escaped outside. That's 1 of my WORST NIGHTMARES!!

Before I open the door to go out, I always look around to make sure the cats aren't nearby and if they are, I scoot them away before opening the door.. When the cats were young, I started teaching them that they are NOT ALLOWED outside...

When I arrive and start to open the door, I tend to jingle my keys which makes a terrible noise I guess since my cats seem not to like that.

So far, none have tried to get out except Tango. It's different with Tango cuz he used to live on the streets before he was rescued by a friend of mine. I'm hoping eventually he'll forget about being outside. He has been doing much better about not coming too close to the door cuz he knows I'd jingle the keys at him if he does...

My cats are afraid of the broom. So if they start lurking around the back door, I just put the broom there and vigorously sweep all around the door as I leave, sending them running!

Fest got out once when she was about 4-5 months old. She must have slipped out through a loose screen overnight. In the morning I heard mewing coming from one side of the kitchen, and after checking the cupboards, I finally found her OUTSIDE! She was right near the offending window. But she has been fascinated with the outdoors ever since.

Garfield went into the garage one day. I chased after him and slammed the garage door leading outside real quick. The outside tomcat Will just laid there on his rug staring at us, like what is Mom doing with that girlyman? Gar was freaking out running in circles, probably terrified of the testosterone in Will. I just had to open the back door for him to come streaking back in! Within a few minutes he was strutting like the big man on campus who conquered the great outdoors. He hasn't been near the backdoor since!
