it's probably better to ask your vet.

both vets I used asked that the cats not get any food starting at 8pm the day before. I think it's because they could vomit during surgery and choke on it. But I'm not sure.

actually, my vet told me about giving the cats no food when I booked the appointment and then called the day before to remind me.

I'm not sure if there are any vets who feel fasting is not necessary.

My vet said no food or water after midnight the night before. He said just take away all the bowls before you go to bed.

Best to check with your vet!! If its too late to ring before tomorrow - I would fast him.

Yes, if I recall correctly, I was told the same thing-no food or water after midnight. But won't be the night before, that would be the same night, so the cat only fasts overnight.

what I was told is to pull the food up by 10:00pm the night before, and water needs to be pulled by midnight....ask your vet though.

The cat only fasts overnight as in over the morning? See, we can get drawn into multiple technicallities about the way we all express time.

I meant the same thing... I think it was pretty obvious I didnt mean you should starve the cat for two days. Anyway, hope that clears it up.

none of my cats were able to eat from about 10pm the night before till about an hour or so after their neuter and spay. I wouldn't let them they can vomit and get stressed.

Good luck! I've taken several cats to area vets to be neutered or for teeth cleaning. My own vet says no food after about 10 p.m., but allows water, while other vets say no food or water from anywhere between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m..

My vet says no food after 8pm before any op, although water is fine as they shouldnt go too long without water.
