There doesn't seem to be a "dinner" thread alive at the moment, but this is not so much about the meal as about two elements of it.

Late spring. The beginnings of fresh produce. Specifically? Tiny new potatoes -- really tiny -- not larger than 1" diameter. OOOOOOOOO
Especially wonderful prepared with a totally unconscionable amount of butter and fresh garlic. In the pot, lots of tiny potatoes, just rinsed, with about a dozen whole garlic cloves, peeled, and about 1/2 cup of butter. Yes. That much. No water. Low to medium heat, just high enough to keep the butter chuckling softly to itself. 20-25 minutes, until the 'tatoes are tender, with a little shake of the pot from time to time. You'll think you died and went to heaven. Do more than you can possibly eat, because these fry up splendidly, too.

[Along with basa fillets panfried, and garlic carrots.]

The other delight? Dessert. Fresh local strawberries. A concept that plays out deliciously no matter where you are, if strawberries grow there, but I gotta tell you, there are none better than Fraser Valley berries. They are passing awesome. Humongous, and blood red, and juicy, and sweet. Stop me! I'm blathering!
Naked -- last night. Naked, with sour cream and demerara sugar for dipping tonight. With a small amount of very wonderful chocolate to accompany them.

OK, I'll go back in my cage now, and dream....

Oh boy that all sounds absolutely beautiful!

I'm really looking forward to my dinner tnoght - Sweet & Sour Chicken. Mum is making it, chicken breast, green beans, butter beans, carrots, ginger, pinapple and the 'sweet & sour' packet! MMMMMMM!

Probably have tinned berries and yoghurt for pudding.

Good Lord Frannie, you should write for a culinary magazine. It's only 8:30 in the morning here and my cornflakes just aren't cutting it now!

Fran, that sounds AMAZING!
I thought I'd died and gone to heaven just READING about it!
The potatoes sound too good to be true! I certainly don't match your level in culinary skills... you certainly know how to cook up some fine fare.

Those potatoes are Denny Boyd's Garlic New Potatoes, out of the Vancouver Sun years ago. My eyes just about popped out of my head when I first saw that recipe. Now we have them a couple of times a year. Just while the nuggets are tiny and sweet. Really easy.
Try 'em.

I usually bake tiny new potatoes with sliced onions, lots of whole garlic cloves and a coating of olive oil at 350 until the potatoes are knife-soft
It's even better if you can get different types of potatoes-yukon gold, red, purple, white....

Loving my beautiful baby girl
I'm with you, Fran! This is absolutely the very best time of year!
Our local produce stand owners know me by name and even my voice on the phone!
Sierra and I would love to join you for dinner! What a luscious recipe for your new potatoes!
