Question 1:

If you knew a woman who was pregnant, who had 8 kids already, three who were deaf, two who were blind, one mentally retarded, and she had syphilis, would you recommend that she have an abortion?

Read the next question before looking at the response for this one.

Question 2:

It is time to elect a new world leader, and only your vote counts. Here are the facts about the three candidates:

Candidate A:

Associates with crooked politicians, and consults with astrologist. He's had two mistresses. He also chain smokes and drinks 8 to 10 martinis a day.

Candidate B:

He was kicked out of office twice, sleeps until noon, used opium in
college and drinks a quart of whiskey every evening.

Candidate C:

He is a decorated war hero. He's a vegetarian, doesn't smoke, drinks an occasional beer and never cheated on his wife.

Which of these candidates would be your choice? Decide first... no peeking, then scroll down for the response.

-----------------------------

Candidate A is Franklin D. Roosevelt
Candidate B is Winston Churchill
Candidate C is Adolph Hitler

And, by the way, on your answer to the abortion question: If you said YES, you just killed Beethoven.

Pretty interesting isn't it? Makes a person think before judging someone. Wait till you see the end of this note! Keep reading...

Never be afraid to try something new.
Remember: Amateurs...built the ark.
Professionals...built the Titanic

little more than 500 employees and has the following statistics:

* 29 have been accused of spousal abuse
* 7 have been arrested for fraud
* 19 have been accused of writing bad checks
* 117 have directly or indirectly bankrupted at least 2 businesses
* 3 have done time for assault
* 71 cannot get a credit card due to bad credit
* 14 have been arrested on drug-related charges
* 8 have been arrested for shoplifting
* 21 are currently defendants in lawsuits
* 84 have been arrested for drunk driving in the last year...

Can you guess which organization this is?

Give up yet?

It's the 535 members of the United States Congress. The same group that crank out hundreds of new laws each year designed to keep the rest of us in line.

Does kinda boggle the mind, doesn't it?!
Interesting.
Never did trust those vegetarians! Just kidding. Wow, that is very scary.
Oh No! I voted for Hitler.
I actually voted for Candidate A. Only because I thought of some of the people that many people think of as being great politicians or leaders, and pretty much all of them had some pretty big faults. Besides, anybody who looks as good as C did on the outside just HAS to have something cooking on the inside!! No one can be THAT good!
I've heard all of those before and was quite shocked! Crazy crazy crazy

Why'd this get moved to IMO?

Okay, well, I can't post replys (not of age), so, this is my last post here... I'm telling everyone these ones! They're cute! I picked Adolf, too... creepy!
As for the abortion question, I said no, because I am totally against abortion, no matter what it is (human, cat, dog) because I believe that it's murder, no matter what and that responsibility needs to be taken. But that was an interesting question. (Now I realize why it was moved to IMO! )

Didn't even realize till you mentioned it! Good point (question).

All I can say now is..............here we go. something fun will now turn into the battle field of opinions. AHHHHHHHH

I moved it, the subject is a bit heavy for the cat lounge regardless.

Let is examine this a little deeper just for fun.

Question 1: Pregnant
I would recommend that she get treated for syphilis to prevent passing it on to her baby. Whether she wants to get an abortion or not is really not a decision for someone else to make but is hers alone.

Also, one could easily change the situation around and wonder what would happen if Hitler's mother got an abortion.

Question 2:
If only my vote counts then can I vote for myself? If that is all the facts one has during an election then something terrible must have happened to the media.

Amateurs and Professionals:
I shall refrain from comment on the Ark, since one have to subscribe to a certain belief. But what I will say is, would you prefer your Boeing 747 to be built by professionals or amateurs. Or your operation to be performed by a professional doctor or an amateur who has watched every single episode of ER and Chicago Hope. There is a difference between trying something new and just being reckless.

Furthermore one could even argue that the Titanic was something new (maiden voyage) and that trying to go "smashy smashy" through the ice is not something new one should try.

Congress v World Leader:
Does not the conclusion from these two paragraphs contradict each other? In the world leader paragraph we were not suppose to judge someone based on their "bad" actions yet in the congress paragraph we are told that because of what they did they are implicitly not fit to do their jobs.

Okay I think this a fine thread and the intent valuable, but why I would never go as far as calling myself a Beethoven scholar or FDR expert, I have to clear up some untruths about both of them.

Beethoven was one of seven siblings, born to his mother Maria and his father Johann. He was NOT the youngest. Only three siblings survived to adulthood. The others died as newborns or toddlers. The three who survived were Ludwig, the eldest boy and two brothers Kasper (Karl) and Johann. Neither of them were deaf or blind. Kasper was a bank clerk and died of TB. Johann was an apothecary and a land owner. Ludwig started to lose his hearing at about age 30. We now know through DNA testing of a lock of Ludwig's hair, that he had high levels of lead in his body, which MAY account for his severe gastrointestinal problems which plagued him all his adult life and maybe his deafness. Ludwig sadly died at age 56, from dropsy, an archaic word meaning edema

Ludwig's mother died of TB. I have never read any account of her having syphilis, but since her husband was an alcoholic and a philanderer, it's certainly possible. Hell a lot of people were walking about with syphilis in that era. Maria died of TB.

FDR was not by any means a teetotaler. However, with the numerous books I have read on him and Eleanor under my belt he was not an alcoholic. In fact, FDR was concerned with Churchill's use of alcohol. At one point during the war, Churchill lived at the White House, planning the war. FDR once said of Churchill "He was the best man that England had, even if he was drunk half the time."

Beethoven and FDR are two heros of mine, I had to set the record straight.

I choose b just cause c was well too good to be true.... and no to abortion..
The Hitler answer doesn't surprise me at all. He was obsessed with his heaith. I forget what you call those kind of people. He was just someone how came along at the right time for Germany. Funny thing is he kept saying "Germany is great, the German people are the best ...ect" but he wasn't German. He was from Austria. He could have been a great leader, but he was insane to say the very least.

As for question 1, that's her choice.
Question 1 : I would not recommend an abortion but I would tell her to get a hysterectomy.
Question 2 : Candidate B. Sleeps until noon coz he stays up late besides getting blasted. Too many problems?
And who hasn't done crazy things in college?
Lastly, kicked out of office? Sometimes trying to do the right thing costs good people their jobs.
I chose candidate B, because I thought the other two were probably lying about what they did. I thought candidate B seemed the most honest!

It's a shame that honesty seems to be a thing that's been lost from our politicians these days isn't it?

The questions are misleading. If Hitler wasn't married, than obvoiusly he wasn't cheating on his wife.

Reading all that (the Abortion question and the Candidate question) makes me just love the human race even more.

We're an odd lot, aren't we.

Well, the Beethoven question is purely academic...His mother wouldn't have had access to an abortion and her birth control (if she had any..its doubtful) would have likely been a cloth soaked in some poisonous root or maybe animal dung (yes, these were actual methods!

It's obvious from the way you "structure" your posts that you're used to analyzing (and explaining) issues point by point.
