A couple of years ago, my sister bought two ferrets. She was supposed to get one male, one female, but ended up getting two females. Anyway, she got them, then CJ and Billy's two brothers, Milo and Otis, and then some fish. She found that she just did not have time to spend quality time with all of them, so she decided to sell her ferrets. She had a coworker who's wife had always wanted ferrets... all her life, so she gave them to her for a reasonably cheap price. Well, they never paid her. About a month after they took them, she decided she didn't want them anymore, so my sister took them back. When she got them back... oohhhh, it was horrible!
First of all, they were SOO skinny! Their fur was hard as rock, they were STARVED for attention, by the looks of it they hadn't been let out of their cage at all
, their cage was DESTROYED, and their bedding reeked of cigarette smoke! On top of it all, they returned the food my sister gave them in a tuberware container... not so bed, right? Well, on top of the food was flea shampoo, and other CHEMICALS on top of it!
And... it was crawling with ROACHES!
My sister got her old cage out, a huge one, and put them in, and let them settle down some before she played with them too much. I am so glad she got them back! I don't know what would've happened if she didn't.... probably don't want to know. She now has more time on her hands and can spend some time with them. It just drives me nuts to see innocent animals in that type of condition. Okay... thanks for letting me vent... I'm done.

That is really cruel. I am actually shocked to know that those people didn't even give those ferrets the time of day to clean their fur and wash their cage. I'm really glad your sister took them back!

Yes they do have children, but apparently they are well taken care of. They also have a cat... I wonder how they treat it!?

i like ferrets, but i find it that my bunny is already too much work on top of having teufel and a fish tank.
i really love my bunny but, teufel just keeps on chasing her and i feel bad that i cant spend quality time with her with out teufel getting really jealous

would owning a ferret and a bunny work out? they are prey and predator.

A pet shop near me got in trouble for having the ferret cages next to the rabbit cages

Jupiter is fascinated with our rabbit. then he gets annoyed when the dog watches him! hypocrite! lol

Yeah, that was the dilemma my sister was facing. The cats and ferrets just didn't get along. They seem okay, now, for some reason, and she's able to give each pet attention, now that she has more time on her hands.... she can put the cats up for a little while, and play with the ferrets. It'll work out... it has to. I can tell she wanted them back, anyway... at least now, we know they're well cared for.

I agree completely Stupidity and cruelty GRRR
makes me mad to think of it. I think as many others do these people should have been or still should be reported. People like that should have the same treatment given back to them as their punishment, maybe then they would think twice to do something like that again.

No they weren't.... it's up to my sister, and she works with the guy... don't wanna tick off your coworkers. As long as he isn't hurting animals anymore, right? Just careless.
The ferrets are settling in... haven't talked to my sis today, but she hasn't said anything negative about their behavior, so.. they must be doing good.

No matter who they are they should be reported. You pointed out they have a cat, and said wonder how that gets treated. I would be keen to report.
