I was just wondering how all of our members found TCS. I will start with my story!

I was searching for a way to make CJ stop scratching and the door. He would do this for ever starting at 5 am every morning. His nightly psycho mode lasted until about one. I was trying to get by on 4 or less hours of sleep and did not know what to do, I was at the end of my rope. When I was younger and our cats did something like that we just put them outside (we lived on 20 acres of land), but living in an apartment, and with a sleeping roomie who wasnt fond of the idea of a cat to start with, putting him outside of my room wasnt an option. I did some internet searching and a couple of links to forums here poped up. I read it and started following different links to other threads, and boom I was hooked. I watched for a couple of weeks and then decided to go ahead and join. Since then I have been addicted! Now that I have since moved out and have a single apartment its just CJ and I and he gets away with just about anything.

What's your story?

So far out in left field I got lost
I was a member of a wedding fourm as I was about to be married shortly. Oscar had just been fixed the day before and his stiches came out and he was bleeding pretty bad(he was cut in the abdomen since one of his testicles hadn't drop). I was freaking and didn't know what to do, I had called the vet with no response at the time. Anywho I posted on that forum to see if anyone might know what to do. One person on their told me to check this website out.

After registering and I posted the first time I got a response in just a matter of minutes as to how to help my Oscardoodle
until the vet called. I have been hooked ever since, Thanks TCS for helping a scared kitty and kitty mom

Actually, my brother, who does not like cats all that much, found it for me, and told me about it... I don't know how he found it, or why, but I'm sure glad he did!

Well, it's Charlotte's fault. I was a first-time cat owner and Charlotte went into heat and was driving me nutts with her markiing everything!!! At the time, I wasn't sure if she was in heat so I searched for information and found TCS.

A friend recommended I post in TCS to get advice about whether to adopt a 2nd cat.. I had just adopted Sunniday (RB)- found out she had grew up in a multi-cat household so I knew she was lonely... After getting advice from TCS, I ended up adopting a young cat (Zebra) 2 weeks later to keep Sunniday company.

WELLLLL... Sunniday FREAKED out and Zebra went into hiding for a whole week. I checked back with TCS and found out about the PROPER way of introducing cats, Sunniday and Zebra got along a lot better!

Since then, I have been hooked to TCS..

I actually did a search on Google and found TCS the day Charley died
I felt so sad and wanted to be in contact with people who would understand.

Not the best way to join a site and I don't even have a cat right now, but I'm so glad I've stayed

I had been posting on another cat site, which I got disillusioned with. There were some really nice people there, but the main group was rabid about some of their beliefs. They would come down so hard on some people, and especially new people. I swear, a few people who joined were torn to shreds!

On the CatSite forum, I see people who are careful to balance educating newbies with welcoming them. Whenever someone is getting flamed, at least one person comes to their defense.

It may sound petty, but the straw that broke the back was when I posted that it was my birthday, and the next day was Festus' birthday. I think 2-3 people total on the other site posted well wishes for us. It just made me realize that while I liked a lot of the people there, evidently they didn't feel the same way! (I had previously posted a health related question about Festus, with no responses!)

What keeps me coming back to the CatSite? The friendliness, the diversity, and the opportunity to learn. I am HOOKED!

I agree. I was in a blog ring about cats and the people who posted there just wanted to fight all the time, were never nice to people, and the questions they asked just seemed irresponsible. Stuff like do I have to change their water everyday, is it ok for me to clean out the litterbox every 2 weeks... just stuff like that. I was disgusted with the lack of responsiblity these people had. It seemed like I dunno, a bunch of inmature teenagers. Then I came here where the threads were intelligent, people talked like adults, and really cared for their cats. We do have teenagers here, but they are mature, and really the polar opposite of what was over there. Not to mention everyone he is so friendly, and people give great advice. I am so hooked here. I check it at least 5 times a day!

I went through Google, 3 yrs ago... cuz I'd just adopted Hammie. I had many, many questions about his problems (worms & general "insane kitten" syndrome... heh heh). And this site popped up.

I think I typed in the words "cat forums" and this one was first, easiest to join, and VERY active. And, everyone here is just as in love with their cats as I am in love with mine.

I did a search for "Cat behavior" because Eponine was peeing on my bed and I wanted it to stop!! From there, I wanted to find out if I'd ever be able to adopt a 2nd cat that Eppie would actually get along with and from THERE I discovered the Cat Lounge. The rest, my friends, is history

It was one of the hits on a google search about something cat-related, though I don't now remember what -- it wasn't an emergency or anything, just a matter of curiosity about something or other. I dropped in, browsed around for a couple of hours, and was hooked.
