Hi, I am a realitivly new cat owner, my cats are 2 and they are my first ones ever! Recently one of them has been having spasmish movements in his tummy area, and a friend who has had cats all her life told me this is just hairball behavior. I gave him an OTC remedy yesterday and today, I was wondering if anyone else could help me with this? I'm hoping this is all just hair balls and nothing more. He's acting normal otherwise and not off of his food. His breathing is not laboured it just looks like a bad case of the hiccups. He has hacked a few times and as of yet has not vomited up anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

The hairball remedy is to make it easy to pass the hairball through the G-I tract and come out the back end. I'd just give him some more for a couple more days until he stops trying to cough it up. It's also possible he's got an upper respiratory infection, so if he doesn't stop soon, or gets worse, call your vet.

I would double check this with a vet or vet tech via phone... My vet told me 1 inch of "stuff" for three days then a half inch 2 times a week( this si not what the bottle said)

Thanks, upper respiratory was my other thought. It's nice to get feed back from people who are cat lovers!

Vet tech said to use an inch, put on his paws so he would have to lick it off! Then to check back in a couple of days or if symptoms change

My Dixie is the proud owner of a recently cacked up hairball!
It was found by his "mommy" in her stocking feet! I'm relieved to have this episode pass, as is Dixie. I just want to thank all of you who replied and helped out this "newbie" ( 2 years new) to the cat world. Hopefully I can return the words of advice and concern one day. Thanks again!
