I have 2 Persians that have their annual "lion cut" scheduled for next week. The question is: should I ask the groomer to bathe them or just give them their cut?

Last time they had a cut, the groomer bathed one of them. Poor little Buster was so mad at me that he sat in a corner for hours.

Do they really need the stress of a bath? It takes hours to dry them.

Buster looking very hairy (can't wait to post before & after pictures with lion-cut):

Tell ya what-if I had someone to wash my persian, I would definetly go for it.
He is scared of water so I can't figure out how to give him a bath.

Unless a cat has been used to being bathed from a very young age, I would not put one through the stress of a bath unless something warranted it (fleas, hotspots, some foreign substance in the coat, etc.).

No felas, hotspots or anything of the sort here. I am going to tell the groomer to skip the bath and to just cut him. Buster is in agreement too...looking at me with a big smile on his fuzzy face

Both Persians get groomed (normal trimming) during the winterr months but during the summer months, they both get lion cuts. They don't love being groomed but they seem so happy & comfortable during the summer without all that hair.

I love the way they look and I guess they do too...that is after the other cats stop making fun of them

Why do they take hours to dry? Especially if they're being shaved anyway? I dry Jake when he has his full coat in about 30 -45 minutes. And that is with taking some short breaks.

(I won't comment on the lion cut, which is probably a comment in itself!
But I won't hold it against ya.)

I had them trimmed during the winter months (no lion cut) and for whatever reason, poor little Buster had his hair dried for what seemed over an hour. It is possible, the groomer felt that is would be easier to remove some matting if he was wet...just guessing...certainly not a groomer here.

Well, the groomer is supposed to be here tonight for 2 lion-cuts. Can't beat it -- groomer that makes house calls -- no stressful car rides
Will post before & after pictures.
