How sad!

And yeah, "I will pay the fine happily..." said the priest. All of $2.10 for a life, and not only a life but perhaps for one of the few things that brought joy into that poor neighborhood. All this so he can preach without interruption. I sure hope a BABY doesn't start crying during his service.

I hope people stop attending his services!!! He isn't one that I would want leading ME to Heaven!! Aren't priests supposed to be loving and kind? It's a sad sad world. I think I might be more upset that his fine was ONLY $2.10!!!!!!!!!!! $2.10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And I give HIM my six words, too! "The least of these my creatures"

While I think its a horrible thing for him to do, let's remember that this is the equivalent of US $2.10...In South America, this would be a much higher fine relatively than it would be in the first world.

First that nun wants to eradicate her local ferals, now this. What is our spiritual leadership UP to???
Living a sermon is so much more valid than preaching a sermon. Look at the sermon this preist lived. He should not be a spiritual leader of any kind.

He probably felt threatened by the dog, in that she brought joy to the neighborhood and to his masses. My guess is he was jealous of the attention she was getting.

Did anyone watch the episode of Animal Cops where a church pastor (protestant) kept his dog outdoors, didn't feed or or provide her with food. She was emaciated, covered in ticks, etc.

Just like with ANY group, race, religion, etc. Not all spiritual leaders are homosexuals, sex-offenders, or animal abusers.

The priest in my mother's church talks about his dog during sermons and even brought it into the church during mass a couple of times.

Some parishes do the "Blessing of the animal" thing related to St. F.O.A

This guy is a jerk and an idiot. But I'm not at all happy about the fact that you've lumped homosexuals in with sex offenders and animal abusers.

Well, Obi, I can't help how you FEEL. And, it isn't "I" who have "lumped" them in with immoral people. God did. I am sure GOD isn't happy with how spiritual leaders are preaching under His name, while living in horrible sin.

The only reason I am even bringing Bible scriptures into this as an "argument" (for those who say "Yeah, but I don't believe in God and/or the Bible" so this is not a valid point) This IS about RELIGIOUS (Catholic priests) who DO claim to follow God's word and represent Him but go against HIS rule book : The Bible.

Answer:

The Biblical witness is clearly against the practice of homosexuality. God did not intend for male and male, or female and female to have sexual relations. The OT clearly condemns homosexuality. The Law of Moses said, "You shall not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is an abomination" (Leviticus 18:22; c.f 20:13).

The OT also condemns "sodomites," which were male temple prostitutes (I Kings 14:24; 15:12; 22:46; II Kings 23:7). Some would argue that these male prostitutes were for the female worshippers, but it was primarily the males who involved themselves in the cultic worship of the pagan temples. The male prostitutes were for the purpose of homosexual acts with other men.

The NT is just as clear on this issue as is the OT. In Romans 1 Paul was demonstrating how the Gentiles have failed to live up to the revelation of God given them. He wrote of the many evils they did while suppressing the knowledge of God revealed to them (Romans 1:18-21). Such evils included idolatry, fornication, maliciousness, disobedience to parents, hate for God, inventions of evil things, and homosexuality.. Paul plainly declared, "Because of this [the suppression of truth resulting in idolatry], God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion" (Romans 1:26-27, NIV). Although homosexuality is not named as such here, the act of homosexuality is clearly described. It was in judgment that God allowed men and women to have sexual relations with the same sex, but they did receive in themselves their due punishment for such indecent acts.

While listing those who would not inherit the kingdom of God, Paul noted that homosexuals will not be saved: "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God" (I Corinthians 6:9-10, NIV).

So, you see, "I" didn't set the standard. HE did

And now I'm going to jump in here and say OT also equals Off Topic.

Homosexuality has nothing whatever to do with the story being reported and discussed, needn't have been mentioned in the first place, and does not need to be debated here. Please, if there's to be a debate on that topic start a new thread.

Thanks.

Too right! Seems to me like a tiny fine, but I suppose in a poor country this could be a lot of money.

But colons!! Is that really a unit of currency (excuse my ignorance)? Seems about right for an a**hole like this priest.

Well, the priest said he would "happily" pay the fine. If he "happily" paid it, I don't think it could have been TOO much of a substantial amount of money. Priests usually aren't rolling in the cash, ya know?

I guess his apology is supposed to make everything O.K & wonderful again.
So much for patience & kindness.
Creep.
