Ozzy, our almost-one-year-old neutered male, is very, very playful, and that's an understatement. He is way more energetic than our other cats. I know he needs more stimulus. What kind of toys can I find him for when we don't have time to play with him (like if I'm working from home) and the other cats have tired of his shenanigans? (They'll play with him for a while, but after that, they're like, "Go away, you pest. I need a nap."
)

I'm thinking maybe something that moves on its own would keep his attention, but I've never bought a toy like that. Suggestions?

The Panic Mouse 360 might fit that description. But it's battery-powered, so leaving it on all day might not work. It does have a one-event timer. Other ideas: one of those toys that attaches to and hangs down from a doorway. Or a Cat Dancer attached to something.

My cats each have their own favorites, but Isaac loves sparkle balls (the main problem is that he loves to fetch & so most of the time he won't play with them on his own), Jordan loves fuzzy mice, but only the ones with the feathers for a tail. Another suggestion I've heard is to have differnt toys & put away some of them for a while & leave some out then switch so the old toys become like new toys again. I agree with the cat dancer if you've got a place you can put it where he won't bang into anything while playing. I have one more suggestion, how about a kitten or another young cat? (of coarse this depends on how many you already have & if you think it wouldn't upset the others too much)

Well, counting the five kittens, we have nine cats in the house right now. I love cats, but there's a limit.

I'm sure after we introduce the kittens, he'll like playing with them while they're here, but hopefully that won't be too long. (Going to find them some forever homes.)

Thanks for all the suggestions, guys. Any more would be welcome.

I was going to suggest this also - my one year old girl LOVES this. It's one of her favorites. The other toy she loves is a small soft ball with feathers attached. I got it at Wal-mart. I ahve to keep a good supply of these aroudn because she picks them up in her mouth and hides them and she also rips all of the feathers off.

My inlaws sent us a nice one that attaches to the door and has a bell and feathers on the ball at the bottom for him to play with. It stretches and the ball on the bottom is interchangeable with another ball or velcro toy. Char loves it.

I've got a scratching post that has..how to explain...has an arm that is perpendicular to the floor attached to the top. The arm rotates around the scratching post. I've got a pompon hanging down from the end of the arm. Imogen bats at the pompon and chases it around and around her scratching post. The pompon is easily changed for small mice, bells, etc.

today I bought this three dollar toy from walmart.. My kitten Aerowyn played with it nonstop, until I thought she would exhaust herself to death, so I took it down for the night...

what it is is one of those wand things, but it can be put onto the wall.. it comes in three sections of plastic pole.. once you connect those, and put the end into the suctioncup, it is ready to go
just lick it and stick it.. it has a string on the other end with a little furry/feathery toy onit.. and omg it is the best toy ever!!! both my cats love it
they will play for hours and leave me be.. it is the best 2.98 I have ever spent

I second the Panic Mouse! I think the one with the mouse top looks more interactive than the one with the Garfield top (which I have). They sell them at PetSmart and at www.panicmouseinc.com
