Well today is my day off and I'm heading on out to Petsmart. I went to Petsmart.com to see about how much my bill is going to be... up to $80 already! And that's without food.

My littermaid (stupid pos) has been broken for several weeks now so I am going to buy a new litter box. Also a litter mat and the litter locker thing.

I'm thinking about getting the Self-Cleaning Litter Box from Omega Paw. Does anyone have this? I'm going to get the large one as I have **3** cats now. (How did that happen?!?!?!??)

Or any other suggestions for a moderately priced but good litter box.

Why is it that every time I go into Petsmart for one or two things I end up leaving with a full cart and a HUGE bill??

You do take printouts of the stuff you're going to buy so that they'll price-match their internet prices I hope? I haven't personally done this but I did call my local PetsMart to verify this and was assured they did. As an example, the Drinkwell pet fountain was 49.95 at the store and I think the internet price that day was like $40.00, and the additional reservoir was $5.00 cheaper online. Hey! $15 is a pretty good savings! Wish I'd remembered to take the printouts with me ...

I know how ya feel. I go there twice or so a week now to buy canned food, since that's all my kits eat. I have six cats so I go through litter like you'd not beleive! But I tell ya my forearms are nicely toned from lifting those bags & hauling the heavy (used) cat litter out to the curb...

matter of fact tonight is PetSmart night & garbage night! hah!

I always ALWAYS get suckered into buying those little furry mice for Hammie, catnip for my boys & I cannot help getting treats for Jessie. Snickers hairball gel. You name it, I buy it. I so much as merely walk by those furry mice, and in my mind's eye I can see Hammie's big, round innocent eyes lighting up over getting to tear tails off & drown the mice...

=-)

I have 6 "regular" litter boxes... I don't use the fancy clean-itself type. I have 3 hooded and 3 non-hooded. Just plastic, plain litter boxes which are easy to clean (once a week). And I use Tidy Cats litter, just the regular clay kind. My house always smells really good, except when the cats have a pooping contest.

I read a product review of that product, not so hot...not easy to roll over, clumps of urine getting stuck in certain areas, and some leakage I believe when rolling. I think I'd skip this!

I think PetSmart is a lot cheaper than Petco. At least it is in my area.

Oh heck Petsmart I own stock there
my cats have more toys then my kids ever did

I probably spend $120.00 a month there, and that does not includ litter witch I get at sam's club and costco
Plus what I buy at the grocery store, like chicken I cook for treats and whatever else I see

Oh and shoot that doesn't include Zoie My Basset hound either.
Ok I am feeling sick now that I saw I am broke
I wish you haden't opened this can of worms

Good thing they didn't have any in stock or I would have bought it. lol

Any suggestions as to a good litter box? I tried searching the forums for a thread about it but only found one about automatic ones -- which I will not buy again.

Thanks for the info.

I only ended up buying food -- which was on sale too! I love the new pet perks card they have. Although I think it's sole purpose was to get people to think they can buy more because they are saving!

I've had the regular littermaid automatic box for two years now and it works great. Maybe an older model is better? I saw the Petmate brand automatic litter box at PetSmart last time I went. You might want to check reviews on it.

Yes I have a Basset hound, she is going to be 4 soon, I have had Bassets for 20 years, raised them for years also, had about 80 puppies all together, Zoie has never had any though, we tried this last time but her boyfriend out weighed her lol. I have always Loved bassets, My Zoie Loves the kitties also she thinks there hers, wants to mother them, pamper them and brake up all there fights also, she is also very spoiled but she's a very good girl and pretty dog gone smart for a basset also, they aren't real high up there on the smart list ya know lol
We also lost one almost a year ago, his name was Dexter and he was only 7, the vet seemed to think he was poisoned but I don't think that's what is was, we just don't know exactely what it was,
Don't you just Love the basset?

There are other stores where you can get stuff for cheaper, like other pet stores, Costco, and Big Lots.

Well I finally got a new litter box the other day!

Booda Clean Step Litter Box

I like it so much! And so do my kitties! They were already jumping in it before I had it all ready. lol It's more private than the Littermaid I had. There is almost NO litter on the ground. (Compared to the "beach" I would vacuum up every day from the LM) And it looks so much nicer. (In purple - my favorite color - too!)

I also got a litter locker and a few fish! I left spending "only" about $75.
How I wish I could win a shopping spree there!! I'd just need to buy a bigger house to go along with all the stuff I'd get.

We get our cat food from the Global Pet food store, they have all health food products for animals its great. Not to hard on the wallet - The one thing that is hard on the wallet is the HUBBY - we walked in one day - he seen a litter boxed that looked like an eskimo house - white and round with a top on it and a set of stairs. It was over $50 just for the litter box
Anyway, we walked out with the litter box in hand lucky enough I convinced my husband to check out the kitty stuff at Walmart and he found a very nice litter box about 40 bucks cheaper and took the other one back. LOL some day I said but not today....
I love my kittes yes very much but paying close to 60 bucks for a litter box hmmm.......

Well I seemed to notice as I entered the living room today that there was an abnormaly large number of cat toys in there!
With seven kittens you can imagine how much fun this place is!

Mom told me the other day that I need to clean my apartment and pick up some of the random trash. I laughed at her and I told her that all the little foil balls, q-tips, toliet paper rolls, paper balls, box and paper bag had a purpose, they are cat toys. He goes and gets them out of his toy box when he wants them... we just havent taught him how to put them back yet.....

I have the same problem at my house. Boxes everywhere and toilet paper rolls at any rate. The boys love them.

My bill at Petsmart/Petco is about to get bigger though. My friends is bring down my new puppy the weekend of the 25th. I'm so excited but now I have to go out and buy all the stuff for the new arrival. I hope he gets along with my cats ok.
