my cat Kirby loves (when i start to get a pouch out he meows his head off for it) the Nutro Complete Care pouches, but doesn't eat any of the actual pieces... he just wants to lick the sauce. i doubt this is normal, but is it a problem? i feel like i'm wasting the food. he will eat more "solid" canned foods (such as Iams chicken and rice), but only in small quantities at a time (if i give 1/4 of a 3oz can, he won't even finish that).

what do you think?

thanks,
phil

No, it's not strange. Mine two do the exact same thing. I also feel I am wasting money, but they wouldn't eat any other food at all. Nutro should just make gravy pouches and be done with it!

Phil...My kitties are addicted to the gravy in Nutro's pouches. After they lap it up they eat the chunks. Sharky's suggestion that you mash up the chunks was a good one. I would try that.

elizwithcat...Great idea
Nutro's Gravy Pouchs with Gravy. My cats would love that.

My Mellie doesn't like chunks, either. I waste my money buying her chunky food.

Cj does the same thing with his gravy with his iams pouches. He will eventully go back and eat most of the chuncks. I thought hmmm... petsmart sells just gravy, so I tried that, first over dry food like it says to, he tried to bury it. Then I tried just the gravy, didnt even try to sniff it, just buried it and did this until I picked up his dish 10 minutes later and rinsed it out. So at my house a big paws down on the just gravy from the store.
